We recently did a day tour of the Old City of Jerusalem with Mimi, and it was an incredible & enriching experience. We only had (1) day in the area, so we wanted a personal guide to maximize our exposure to the sites in the Old City. Mimi was extremely accomodating; her knowledge of the history and present context of the area was impressive. She brought along drawings and photos that helped us visualize the history of the area. Our day began on the Mount of Olives, where we spent an hour listening to Mimi recount the history of Jerusalem and its importance to Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths. This put the rest of the tour into context and was an invaluable way to start the day. The rest of our tour was spent walking through the four quarters of the OId City, where Mimi frequently stopped and explained where we were and its significance to the history of the city and its people. Again, visual references were pulled out of her backpack to better explain the point. While we toured the Western Wall tunnels, Mimi held our place in line for the Dome of the Rock, not an easy task with thousands of tourists pushing for a chance to view the sacred area. We lunched in the Muslim Quarter and enjoyed some amazing hummous & falafel. Following the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, our day ended with a relaxed coffee and discussion of Israeli wines. I would like to mention that throughout the day we would cross paths with other tour groups (hard not to do), and we could tell that our commentary with Mimi was superior. I recommend Mimi to any group or individual who wants a professional, courteous, and exceptionally knowledgable guide. Should we return to Israel, Mimi will be the first person we contact.
