First of all they do not know the concept of a "Family Room". In my opinion the family room should accomodate more than TWO people. Yes it only has one bed. It does come with a fold out sofa bed though. However this bed has holes in it. You fall through it if you dont wiegh less then a pound.
They advertise that there is wi-fi availible in the room, howver you have to pay for this service by ordering a card. They do have two desktops in the lobby but you have to pay for it too. It seems that you have to pay for everything but the air in that hotel. That will come shortly.
If you want ice , fat chance they have ONE ice machine, however it is broken.
They also advertise a pool and gym, but they charge 30 Nis (New Israeli Shekalim) to use the sevices(not including the pool).
The rooms are not well kept at all and you can find rust all over the doorways and in the bathroom.
Being a "FAMILY ROOM" i was hoping that they would supply us with enough towels for more that two people, howver they did not.
If this is your last resort, still do not take it.
Take my advice and stay at the Inbal Hotel, amazing food, amazing pool and other sevices, well kept and beutiful rooms , extremly nice stafff and well worth it. Close to the old city and the main social scene. It is located on 3 Jabotinsky In Jerusalem.

“Great in almost every respect, gained some weight”

Crowne Plaza Hotel Jerusalem

My family and I stayed here for two weeks in July 2007.
The short report is we had a nice room, enjoyed great facilities and ate a little too much.
Rooms are average sized for Hotels outside the US, we had a small balcony and the furnishings in our room were very new and reflected thouught and expense as they were real wood. Wireless worked well and I was able to skype a 116 minute call with no interuptions.
The room was clean when we arrived, towels, sheets and carpet were top class and spotless. We did not experience dirty sheets at all and I checked each night.
The Hotel is located neaar the convention Center where I did some business for boysitaliansuits.com . The Hotel is also right near the central bus station and highways. The Hotel seems remote because it is at the top of a hill so you actually look down at the city and you are right next to the hustle but hear nothing.

This is a large Hotel with a health club at additional cost and an outddor pool with a retractable roof that is opened and closed based on the weather. The pool (free) is one of the nicest I have ever seen and I enjoyed relaxing in the natural shade of grape vines after swimming.
The hotel included an Israeli Breakfast with our room rate. i do not know what the term Israeli Breakfast means but it included a variety of bread with all types of butter, cheeses and jams. There was also a selection of salmon, lox, herring and fresh salads, both of fruit and vegetables. It also included omelets made to order, pancakes and fresh pastry and cheese cake. Can you spell too full?
Lunch buffet at the Indian restaurant was supposed to be $15 but the charge to my room was actually less. This full buffet meal included fresh made to order bread, soup, vegetables, chicken and beef as well as desert and superb wine. It is worth flying 12 hours just for this meal. Other options include a poolside burger bar.
Most evenings posed a dilemna as the choices were a dairy and fish buffet in the Lounge near the Lobby or a gala meat buffet in the Hotel dining room. Each was a viable option, I can not describe them in this short review.
There was an entertainment program for the kids, the leaders were able to speak English.
I was also impressed with the reliability issue. When I asked for additional towels they phoned me after 5 minutes to verify that they arrived.
I have stayed at better class (4 and 5 star) hotels throughout Europe and Israel and I feel this Crowne Plaza meets my standards, I can not wait to return.

As always I must begin by saying that people, generally, only take time for such a review if they had a problem, which can be misleading.

We are a family of two adults and three little kids (aged 4-11), I booked two deluxe suites on a high up floor. On arrival we liked the lobby area with a coffee type shop and an Indian restaurant(which itself is good). Check in was handled professionally and politely.

We were given two rooms with a private passage. The layout was fine but the room was firstly on the 7th floor of 21 (hardly high up) and not the best room ever ie the "deluxe rooms" differ only in floor covering from standard rooms, they have a really shocking laminated type wood floor. I requested another room which was handled extremely courteously and with no sign of irritation or rudeness. I was shown 5-6 other rooms and eventually chose one on the 16th floor, this had carpet and was more to our liking.

After this we had absolutely no problems, everything worked in the room and it was really quite comfortable. Ultimately you do not spend much time in the room anyway.

As mentioned the hotel has restaurants and coffee shops as well as the main dining area serving great breakfasts (including toast!! very rare in Israel). The swimming pool is also OK.

Location wise it is far from the old city, but we managed to walk to the Israel Museum as well as Blumfield Science Museum (with little kids). Taxis are easily available and the central bus station(including shopping centre) is close. Jaffa Street is also not far.

All in all we were satisfied but realise that the rooms could certainly do with a proper upgrade (hey it's not the Ritz Carlton). However for the price we could not really complain.

“Nice Lobby & Meeting Facilities - Terrible Rooms”

Crowne Plaza Hotel Jerusalem

26 Jun 2007
4/4 found this review helpful

We stayed here as part of a large tour group. The lobby and meeting facilities were nice and the staff was courteous and helpful but everyone in the tour group we spoke with was displeased by the substandard quality of their rooms. Our room was small and had old stained carpet - Don't walk barefoot unless you don't mind having dirty feet. The furniture is worn and looks to be from the early 60's. Several drawers would not open properly and the closet door was loose. The foam backing on the curtains was deteriorated and had fallen off in several places. The bed clothing was not very clean. The service areas (you have to go there to use an iron) are absolutely filthy. It makes me a bit concerned about what the kitchen might look and smell like. I can't say the experience was terrible because we were only in the room at night since our tour group was on the go a lot and the hotel staff was as helpful and pleasant as they could be but I won't be staying at this hotel again.

The staff at this hotel was very professional and I was treated very well. I am a member of the Priority Club, which they noticed. They are strictly observant of all Jewish holidays and I would not recommend you eat there for Friday night dinner or Saturday unless you observe Shabbat, because you must pay for a huge buffet and it is expensive. The hotel is located near the Central Bus Station, which means you can't walk anywhere, really, except to the Convention Center, which is attached to the hotel, and there is also a movie theater there. But a cab to the city is always available and it cost about $8 at the most, to get to the shopping and restaurants area, or to the Old City.
The concierge was very helpful, and arranged a trip to Masada for us, and also allowed me the use of free wireless internet in my room for one hour at a time (using a code) but I believe that you normally have to pay for the use of the code and it is $5 per hour. They have an excellent Indian restaurant in the lobby and also other shops. The breakfast, which was included in my room rate, was incredible and full of fresh and wonderful foods--breads, cheeses, vegetables, etc. Meat is not served for breakfast in Israel, nor is it necessary--the dairy foods are marvelous. Make sure to get a room rate with breakfast included, because some in our group didn't have that and were sorry.
