we stayed here for 5 nights and loved the place- every aspect of it- were so sad to leave! the staff just can't do enough for you (but to be fair- syrians are wonderful, friendly people so not just the hotel staff). we'd (i.e. my husband who doesn't read tripadvisor reviews) booked the cham palace originally then read the reviews and decided against it. didn't regret the decision especially after a visit to the cham palace. breakfast choices are the best available in any hotel. we had tea a couple of times in the tea lounge and outside which was very pleasant but had no evening meals there as there were too many recommendations in the city (especially the old city)- one recommendation though turned out to be a bad decision (qasr el nubala or palais des nobles- close to the hotel across the main road from le meridien)- worst and most expensive meal we had in syria. the room was very spacious with a good sized balcony, a heavenly bathroom with separate wc- all absolutely luscious- we're tempted to stay and nevr venture out! the concierge are superb- helped us arrange a driver to take us to lebanon for the day which was a wonderful experience. superb hotel- can't fault it

“Best in Damascus”

Stayed at this hotel twice in 2007 (September and November). Booked the hotel directly at Four Seasons website, and paid 190 USD per night including breakfast.

This is a wonderful hotel and the best place to stay in Damascus. There is no competition in the Damascus luxury hotel scene today. But InterContinental and two other international hotel chains are currently developing hotels in Damascus. So this might change in the future. Anyway, I did enjoy both of my stays here, and to be honest I would rate this hotel as one of the better Four Seasons Hotels. The room and suite (I tried both) were large, modern, clean, bright, warm colours, immaculate, offered great views, wonderful and luxurious bathrooms, great restaurants and friendly FS service. The public areas are beautiful, the bar is cosy and the lounge are nice too. The breakfast was so-so, just okey, but nothing to write home about. The outdoor pool was remarkably small and cold, but this did not bother me. I find it strange that they don't have an indoor pool, like most FS.

The location are perfect, right in the middle of downtown, walking distance to cafelife and restaurants. This hotel have everything you can expect from a FS. I find this FS to be way better than the FS in NYC. I would rate this FS among my favourites, along with the ones in Istanbul and Amman:)

I had only one complaint regarding this hotel, but the general manager solved this problem very efficiently by taking action towards the staff member which was involved. The staff member refused to accept my FS giftcard, telling me there were no such thing. I kept insisting that he should accept the giftcard, as it was valid at ALL FS properties. Then I said he was not doing his job in a proper and polite way, as he was discussing and refusing to accept the giftcard. He responded angrily saying he would call the Syrian police. I felt this as a very serious treat, coming because I had a relevat discussion with a FS front desk employee about a giftcard. No bad words said, and he treatened me with police if I did not stop insisting he should accept the giftcard. I called on the GM the next morning, and he was shocked because of his staff member's behaviour. He took immediate action, and I got upgraded to a beautiful suite on my next stay (November 2007).

Very nice staff, greeted by both GM and assisting manager at all times. Friendly staff in both restaurants and bars.

Would love to return to this hotel and Damascus anytime:) Wonderful city too!!

“Luxurious and comfortable rooms.”

Four Seasons Hotel Damascus

A great hotel in a great location. The bed rooms are extremely comfortable and luxurious. The public areas and restaurants are top class, in keeping of what one would expect in a five-star hotel as is the service. In fact the service may have been too good, it bordered on being subservient.

Whilst the room rates are extremely good (inexpensive), the restaurants and XO lounge were not. For example, the cost for 2 (small) Lebanese beers with tax and service was close to $18.

Overall, this hotel deserves its five stars and more.

My husband , our friends and me ( three couples ) stayed at this maginficent hotel for three fabulous nights .
The hotel has 600 ( six hundred ) empoyees dedicated to the well being and good time of the hotel guests .
People at the reception smiling and ready , without no delay , for all the arrangements ( young lady Rasha even rembered my name three days after our check in ) .
People at the concierge were ready to give you any detailed information about tourist attractions , restaurants etc ( young guy Mahmoud ,very kind and caring ) .
Everybody , from the restaurants to the cafeteria and the sporting facilities to the room service smiling and sufficient .
Rooms huge ( double room 55 square meters ) , bathroom with bath and shower ( both of them ) wc separated .
Food really tasty and price very logical ( six people in the Al Hadib restaurant , we ate three appetizers , our dishes and drank two very good bottles of wine and paid only 130 euros total ).
Toilletes in the lobby were cleaned after every use !!.
Room service passed three times a day and the fourth the supervisor passed and asked us if everything was OK.
If you need anything , you simple asked for it .
A luxurious hotel , with very expensive and very good taste furniture .
A magnificent hotel with great personel.
If you stay there , it will be a great experience .
