Our flight arrived thirty minutes early and it was only 07:30 when we reached the hotel. There was just a ten-minute wait until our room (629) was ready. We were very grateful for the problem free early check-in. The location may seem somewhat distant from the city but taxis are metered and reasonable. The hotel provides a free shuttle four times a day to the mosque and major malls. As visibility was severely restricted due to the dust storm on our first day, we took the nearly two-hour circle route on the shuttle to get oriented.
Our room was very spacious and sumptuous, with view straight over the creek to the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan Mosque. The room has all the features one expects in a luxury hotel: innovative design, wonderful furnishings and an excellent bath suite (separate bath room, with a large bath and a separate rain shower; the toilet and bidet are also in a separate room). Outside of these are the twin sinks. The amenities are Miller Harris, bathrobes and lots towels are provided. The closet just by the entry to the room has shelving, sufficient hanging space, a decent size in room safe, iron and ironing board. The living area has travertine floors, curved couch, reasonable size writing desk and good lighting. The floor of the sleeping area is carpeted, the twin beds were large and very comfortable and they share a good size bedside table. There is complimentary water, fruit bowl, coffee/tea making paraphernalia, and mini bar. Air conditioning can easily be adjusted to suit and there is a large flat screen TV. The room is very quiet, even jet skiers on the creek could not be heard in the morning.
The staff we encountered thought our stay were friendly, helpful and very professional. There was a dust storm on the day we arrived, which meant that only a few people were sunning creek side and it was particularly pleasant there. The pool and creek area is lovely: towels and ice and bottles of water are set up for one.
There are about seven dining options. We tried high tea at the Chocolate Gallery, which was delightful and the tea served was excellent. For dinner we chose CuiScene that featured an Asian buffet for the evening. The atmosphere was busy but pleasant and of course there was a large array of choices but as we were eating it became clear why I had not had a dinner buffet in many years - so many conflicting tastes even when one is only taking a few things - our mistake in selecting the buffet option and not that of the restaurant.
Service throughout the hotel is very professional and attentive. Even though we were visiting for leisure, we did not feel out of place in this excellent hotel that obviously has many business guests.
Highly recommend for the size and quality of the rooms and service.
