I went on a tour of Egypt and Jordan with a friend, and we stayed at the Ramses Hilton in Cairo for a total of six nights in three separate stays. In general the hotel was above average, but had a couple of drawbacks. We stayed on the Executive Level floor, thanks to my Hilton Honors card, so the room was very nice, with a Nile view from the 23rd floor. I really appreciated the bath, since I tend to take long showers.
The lobby of the Ramses can be quite crowded at times, with large tour groups arriving and leaving on a regular basis. Restaurants were a definite plus, including one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever visited -- both the food and service were extraordinary.
Staff were very service oriented and friendly, especially helpful were the two young women at the Hilton Honors desk and the waiter and lifeguard at the pool (both named Ahmed!) who made my afternoons very pleasant by the pool.
As others have mentioned, the hotel is located a short distance from the Egyptian Museum, but managing to get there through the crazy Cairo traffic is NOT easy.
