I've stayed here twice now and specifically asked to return the second time.
Yes, this hotel is a bit tired; have you stayed at any other non-U.S.-resort hotels in Cairo (with attendant costs and not at all having the feel of Egypt)?
This hotel has, perhaps, the best morning buffet I've ever had anywhere in the world.
Rooms have been very large, very clean and large bathrooms. The view of the Nile is incredible and this is a very inexpensive hotel for Cairo and it's location within the city.
Very safe and would not hesitate to take young people or groups to get a solid stay at a real value.
I've stayed in some of the world's best hotels. I no longer think that's very important. I never feel like I've gone somewhere else when I'm there. You will know you've stayed in a very old--and historic--Cairo hotel when you stay here.
