I dont know how the hotel manage to get 4 stars because the place is a little tired and the stale smell from the carpet just makes you miserable after a while.

We stayed at the 14th floor for 1 night and it was really bad. everything was literally in pieces and we were lucky we were just really tired.

On our last 2 day back to cairo we went back to the hotel this time on the 8th floor. The room was definetely better than the 14th floor but the stale smell was still very prominent. My frds had a room facing the mosque however the prayers call was bearable for a Friday and not too loud than what we have imagined.

Hot water from the tap came out with a brownish colour so that is to be take note off.

Breakfast was tragic save for the crossiant. It was might as well since most of the guests seems not to have much appetite. The waiters and servers kept theirselves busy sneaking bites from the buffet table.

Overall, I would try not to stay here again.

Get water from the petrol kisok just behind the hotel. The shops ards the hotel just tries to rip you off when they know you are tourists.

o.k, I don't like to be negative but this place was a shocker. Being a 4 star hotel we expected some standards. Not only is Maadi old and rundown but it's just plain dirty !
The room wasn't a bad size but was very basic and the reception on the T.V was appalling. The bathroom wasn't clean (just grubby - mould on shower curtain etc) and the carpet and other fixtures were also old and generally not clean.
We were in a room on the 4th floor facing the street and our fist night was the end of Ramadan - of course there was a Mosque directly opposite our room and we were woken at 4.20am not by the usual 10 min muster ,but by 2hrs of worship !! It sounded like the guy was in our room with a megaphone ! Now technically this is not the hotel's fault but wouldn't you think they'd say to themselves upon checkin "well this couple has a 2yr old so we'll put them on the 15th floor at the back so the noise is minimised" ??
I put two bags of washing in for cleaning and some of the whites came back dirtier than when I sent them ! Further, one of my husband's dark green t-shirts had bleach marks all over a sleeve and the back.
The breakfast was truly horrible. I'm sure it was prepared the night before. There was no toaster, the scrambled eggs were dry and rubbery and the mashed potato had large uncooked chunks all through it ! Even worse, it was exactly the same menu all 3 days ! the only edible things were the croissants and some sliced cheese - everything else was vile.
If all this wasn't bad enough, the pool was so filthy I refused to swim in it - it had slime all over the floor and dust and debris floating on the top. We asked for the pool to be cleaned but our request was ignored.
People, my best advice is to steer well clear of this 2 star (being generous !) establishment.

I utilized their concierge service for dry cleaning of a $3000 Italian loveseat cushion. It was returned to me shrunk by 12 inches leaving a HUGE gap in it's setting! I returned it to them and they offered to stretch it. I obliged, however this did not make much difference. Hotel management was RUDE, ARROGANT, AND DISRESPECTFUL when confronted with the situation. I spoke directly with the owner of this hotel, Ahmed El Tawaf, who refused to bear any responsibility for damage more than 200LE (around $20). Not much of a gentleman considering he is the owner of this joint. The hotel is hot (maybe their air conditioner is broken) and dirty.

Cairo is a different world, the mixture of new and old customs is everywhere. We stayed in the Maadi Hotel in Maadi which is in the south of Cairo. The hotel was very clean, sparce but clean, the rooms were not big but large enough that we didn't feel cramped. The beds were made up each day with clean linen and towels for the bathroom which was also cleaned every day. The hotel served a free breakfast each morning and in the evening the buffet cost about 6 dollars. There are plenty of american style resturants to go to, we ate a couple of times at "Fridays" and once at "Pizza Hut" . just remember no fruit or vegetable that grow on or in the ground, tomato are ok,no lettice and no ice or unbottled water. there is plenty of cokes, and soft drinks around, just NO ice. We used the laundry twice while there and for 4 days worth of cloths it cost us a little more than 8 dollars. Can't beat that. The hotel personnel were very friendly and easy to talk too.

Outside the hotel, you notice that abundance of Tourist Police, Police, and Military personnel. They are everywhere and I mean everywhere, in front of the hotel and spaced every 100 feet or so along all the roads. There are no traffic lights to speak of an oc casional yellow light or an occasional traffic cop to direct traffic. We could not have driven in Cairo and were very thankful for the driver and van that we had for the week.

There were a lot of sites too see. and we saw most of them in the week we were there, without being too redundant.

“Loved the breakfast”

I liked the stay in the hotel.I was there from the 6th of March upto the 17th.I must say the staff were very friendly the Bell Captain the receptionists and even the taxi guys who operated next to the hotel.I was in room 502 and the laundry staff as well as all who offered their services including the waiters who once in a while offered room delivery of dinners when I was too exhausted.
Breakfast time was always a time for refreshing as I went thru the wide variety of fresh garden produce that was available to us every morning. The fresh juice that was always at the right temperature was a delight.
please pass my many thanks to all the staff there who even tried to teach me abit of Arabic while i was there for my training at the BMW centre at Katameya.
Hope to get another chance of being with you guys ther and I say once more "Shukran"
