“A warm welcome”

President Hotel

Well, I read the reviews of this hotel and I wasn't sure what to expect on my arrival. Innitially I booked just 3 days there, but decided to make it my place of stay for my whole time in Cairo the following day.

I arrived at 3am as my flight was delayed. Adel, the night receptionist asked me where Cleopatra was... which made me laugh. My room wasn't much like the picture on the website. My room overlooked an inner courtyard with the satalite dishes, so that wasn't very exciting. The irony was my TV didn't work too well. I went to bed.

The next morning, I asked to change my room with a view over the Nile. The receptionist was happy to give me a new key for a room. I went to my new room. What a contrast! It had a double bed, and the old one was a twin room. At 6'2", this made a huge difference. My TV worked perfectly, I had a shower curtain rather than just a bath, and a balcony to look over the Nile with. SO MUCH BETTER! I was happy that I decided to change. I was also very happy to stay my full term there! The staff were very friendly and nothing was any trouble for them. If I needed help with info for Cairo, they would always get it for me.

I'd be happy to stay again. You have to be aware that there are a range of room types here! You pay more for bigger and better rooms!

We chose to stay at The President Hotel because it is near the AUC dormitory in Zamalek. We had a double room with a western facing balcony that was plain, but roomy and very tidy. Very comfortable beds! I think some of the complaints listed below are due to whether you have an interior or exterior room. Ours would have felt somewhat dark if we hadn't had a balcony, so it is definitely worth requesting that. We were very pleased with the overall service of the hotel: the breakfast is served in a pleasant room and had a lot of variety. You can order cooked eggs for no additional fee. The bellmen were very helpful, and not pushy. We mostly got our own taxis from the street, but they scheduled our airport return taxi at a very reasonable rate and helped tie our luggage to the roof rack! We paid $75.00 a night for two, which may have been a bit high, but we were really glad to have the balcony. Zamalek is a great location with lots of little restaurants, a plethora of taxis, and nice food markets. We felt very comfortable walking around - even late at night as so many people are out and about at all hours. Enjoy Cairo - it is full of life.

I believe it is not the best hotel ever but it is good price /quality for Cairo. It is well located with a nice bar called "The Cellar" on the basement. The rooms are cleaned. The view from my room was not terrible (Satellite dishes)…very normal in Cairo. People were very kind and helpful at the hotel. The neighborhood is very quiet (I was walking alone at night without any trouble) and good coffee shops and shops around. Nice view from caffeteria.
Breakfast not bad but could be better if they have added fresh mango juice!!

“Great Place to Stay”

President Hotel

I was concerned based on some of the reviews below, but much to my surprise, President was a great place to stay. Quirky? Yes, but this is Egypt. I stayed there for 3 weeks, and the room was adequate and the breakfast better than most places. It was clean, and the bathroom was brand new and immaculate. The people were very friendly - at reception, the housekeepers, and the guards out front. There is a nice bakery on the ground floor, and even a pub in the basement. Not bad for $30 per night. Give it a go, it's a great place to stay.

It was one of the worst hotels I had ever seen, it should not be rated as 3* hotel what I have seen something with no star at all, most of the staff over there were horrible and not helpful not at all they can understand the tip language only or they will ignore cleaning your room!

Service was poor and even people on the reception desk were not qualified and hardly speaking or helping residence.

The only good thing I can remember about this hotel was its secure location since more then one embassy was there.
