I stayed for ONE night .

It was great experience to get away from busy cairo and get a fresh air for some time

Try to have massage with Mr. Asim (for Male of course) he is doing perfectly i tryed swidesh for one hour for 200EP .
it was great.

it is faraway so all taxi drivers will say oh please give more it is very far and oil prices increased (usual in Eygpt) so make clear agreement before riding

It is good that hotel have their own bus going to down town frequently for FREE!

In general it is Good and clean hotel

Stayed for 4 nights in May 2008, the hotel was excellent, although only just off the main road the rooms are very quiet, clean, and cleaned daily. the surroundings are very tranquil watching the birds and little lizards. would recommend the Italian Restaurant.
very swift and efficient service with any problems i.e we had a water leak in the bathroom which was repaired within 20mins, on arrival the shower head was not very good - this was not reported to anyone but when we returned from our day out it had been changed (you wouldn't get that in the UK).
The only down side is that it is further out than the hotel would like to report, it was necessary to take a Taxi every time, hand shop if you wanted to buy cheap tat but would benefit more from a small supermarket so that you could buy water and store in your room.
Be ware when you go out and about as the Egyptians want tipping for everything they do even if they only ask how you are or are caught on camera when you take a picture, also you are often asked if you would like a picture of you and your partner be very wary as you will not get you camera back unless you give them money.
otherwise a fantastic place to visit.

“Great base for Pyramids”

Oasis Hotel

15 May 2008

Well I stayed in the Oasis for 2 nights in March, and had a really great time!!!

The hotel is about 45 mins from the Airport ...going through the centre of Cairo, past the pyramids ..then there it is!! Quite Far!

It is a smart well kept hotel, the food is great and reasonable, plenty of bars and entertainment to choose from and the rooms are spacious and clean!!! They are in Gardens which are beautifully kept ...like rows of connected 1 story rooms ...but nicely laid out!!

The pool area is lovely ..but the pool is not heated ...the water is freezing ...even when the sun is blazing!!!

A lot of tourists and Egyptians stayed in this hotel ...and at night the western tourists seemed to disappear ..with the mainly Egyption clientel using the bars etc after 9pm!! Me and my friend did not dissapear ( 2 blonde western girls ) , and enjoyed a few drinks ...we did get some looks but were treated well!!!

It is a great peacful base from which to explore Cairo, we hired a driver for the day ( about £30 ), and saw all the sights, I would definately reccomend this!! Also we got transfers from the hotel to the Airport ..this was excellent and on time ( unlike some previous reviews ) !

The pyramids are amazing ...and i would definately reccomend the Sound and Light show ...it gave me goose bumps!!! Although it is very hammer house of horror ..cheesy..but fun!!!

Would come back to the Oasis if ever in Cairo again!!!

“Nice Hotel, but hated Egyptians”

Oasis Hotel

10 May 2008

The hotel is very nice. It's not like the Ritz or anything, but well worth the money - you won't be disapointed.

The rooms weren't as grand as I expected however. The main lobby to the hotel is marble and gold, etc as shown in the picture, but the room was not to this standard. Do not worry though - its still a decent size for a couple, cleanliness is fine and has air con and so on. Hotel staff were ok, but again don't expect Ritz 5* service. I'd say 3 star would be more appropriate - possibly 4 at a sstretch.

What I would seriously advise those going to Egypt is that you do NOT listen to ANY locals. They see you as walking money bags and will lie and cheat their way into your wallet. Don't get fooled at all - even if they show you ID cards, etc. NOTHING is for free in Egypt. EVERYTHING must be tipped - even if a local helps you out and takes a picture of you! One minute the price is say £5 for two people, the next it is each. Then it goes up and up - confirm price first and stick to it - do NOT let locals tell you what to do or you'll have an awful holiday (i.e: "come this way my friend, my brother has nice shop you want to buy girlfriend something nice")

The hotel food is good. It's a large buffet although you will have to pay for drinks. Average drink cost around £2 (expensive for Egypt). Swimming pool is great and friendly atmosphere. It's not that busy compaired too some hotels and at night it is very relaxing with fountain and cocktails in the warm fuzzy air of Giza.

The hotel itself is located on a main road, but the rooms are set way back, so you cannot see or hear it. The surroundings are a very well maintained gardens between rooms including palm tree's.

The hotel is about 10 minutes taxi drive from the pyramids, although just over 30 mins from central Cairo.

People in the hotel are from all different countries, speaking all languages. Most tourists at hotel are middle aged and very few children (wouldn't recommend having kids there as little to do).

“OK but service needs to be improved”

Oasis Hotel

We stayed here over easter. The grounds and pool are well kept. The room was a little shabby but we didnt mind. Only thing that we were disappointed with was the mattress as it was pretty worn and very uncomfortable.
Dont expect to get good service here. One night we waited almost an hour just to get a drink. People were waving waters down but they just walked past. After a couple of nights of slow service we found getting room service much quicker - highly recommended! Same prices as the restuaranuts with just an additional 1EGP for delivery.

ALSO I DONT RECOMMEND GETTING THE PIZZA!!!
