This was the first place I stayed upon arrival in Egypt, and I was totally pleased. I had a corner room with high ceilings and grand floor-to-ceiling french doors that opened on to a wraparound balcony that looked on to a bustling Cairo. Very, very cool. It seemed like a faded Grand Hotel.
Practically speaking, the room had everything I needed. I wasn't expecting a 5-star hotel, and it isn't, but it was great for the price. The room was clean enough, the staff sufficiently attentive (though it took a few requests for toilet paper before it arrived). The main dining room is a little depressing, but it has a nice little dark-wood, pub-like bar. Great location, too.
