“I slept with the lights on!”

While the front desk was very nice, as was Waleed, I would NEVER RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone. Honestly, I felt very unsafe here and pushed a dresser up against the door while I slept ( there was no deadbolt - just a little lock like you would expect in a bedroom in a home). While with a glance it didn't look so bad - just looking behind the curtains was appauling and there was honestly trash and dust under the bed - which we didn't even see until the day of check out - but it was nasty.

We faced a wall, heard noise ALL night from the rooms around us and I slept with the light on because I was convinced bugs would crawl out of the wall if I turned them off.

The bed sheet didn't even go all the way to the end of the bed... and I was constantly checking to see if there were bugs, possibly out of paranoia - I did get a few bug bites after the two days in Cairo/Giza (this hotel is in Giza) although I can't honestly say for sure that it was from here.

The shower and shower curtain creeped me out so much that I didn't shower the two nights I was there....

Its obvious the cleaning staff needs to be taught how to clean or paid more or something, who knows.

The place was generally disgusting and I would look for another place to stay. I think we paid 30 dollars a night for this place which was WAY overpriced. Maybe if I had at least felt safe in my room at night I wouldn't have minded the dirt.

“Good time at Kaoud Delta”

Kaoud Delta

9 Nov 2007

We had a good time at Kaoud Delta Hotel, Cairo, Egypt. We had read some neg. reviews but had no problems. We travelled by our own. No problem, just book a ticket and the hotel. On the airport are enough taxis. All the expensive day trips from the travel agency, you can arrange that all for half a price. For 7 days we used about 200 euro p.p. (taxi, fees, food, drinks, souvenirs). We (5 persons) stayed for 7 nights at Kaoud Delta. We had 2 rooms (7th and 10th floor) with nice view. Yes, there is a lot of traffic (entire Cairo). Just use eardrops and you sleep well. You can ask for a room on the backside with view on a wall.
To make our trips we used a local taxi. Before you go, make a price with your driver. We shared the costs for using the taxi. So for us it was cheap. If you want information about the price for a trip, ask Waleed or Hussein (they work at Kaoud Delta). You will find them near the entrance. We had good times with taxi driver Salim and Achmed. They speak English, are good and on time. From Kaoud Delta to sightseeing places is easy to arrange. Travel time to down town is about 25 minutes and 40 E.P. for single trip. Day trip to Sakkara and Memphis costs about 200 E.P.
About the rooms: clean, enough space, nice view, tv, refrigerator, air-condition, good bathroom. Breakfast buffet: enough and good food. Dinner buffet (50 E.G.): enough and very good. Personal: friendly, but slow. On the roof garden: a small swimming pool, enough place to sit and enjoy the perfect view. On the top is an internet café with is terrible and expensive. You find a good internet café outside the hotel. From entrance go to the left, cross the street, left of the gas station Mobil, you find a good internet café (5 E.G. pro hour).
If you like to eat at an Egyptian restaurant, go to Andrea (if you like good roasted chicken). Ask Waleed or Hussein for information. Good meal for 50-60 E.P. p.p.
On the left side of the Kaoud Delta Hotel are some shops. Beware of the young men who want to give you advice, show you the shops and want money. Ignore them, go your one way (it’s safe), or warn the tourist police in front of the entrance.
If you leave the hotel the tourist police want to know where you going and if you use a taxi (all for your safety).
