Stayed 1 night because it was all I could stomach, and would have gotten out before that even, except we got in at 1 a.m. and the agent had already left before I discovered the horrors, so by the time I figured out an escape plan, it was already daybreak. The room was absolutely filthy--dirty carpet, dirty bed linen, dirty towels, dirty bath tub etc. I had to call front desk to ask for clean linen, and with no response had to go down there and demand someone come clean the room. Management, if such there was, did not seem to care that we were displeased. When I mentioned that my room was dirty, the man asked if I needed it cleaned. Can you imagine? Then the "cleaner" came in all grumpy like I had disturbed him from some other more important event. They first offered a change of room which I listened to, but then they showed me to a room which reeked of stale wine and cigarettes. I turned it down. The "housekeeping help" came grudgingly by which time it was past 3 a.m. I was so disgusted with it all that I used my personal blanket as a pillow cover, and did not sleep more than 2 hours. The breakfast was average, thus edible. I did notice however that residents(?) had hung laundry everywhere on balconies. 5-star? Come again?!! My husband seemed to have noticed a good pool, but I was already blinded by anger and disgust so I didn't notice the quality of the pool. By then I had emailed the agent to get us the hell out of there [I was with my husband]. We were upgraded to a wonderful place. I hope to God no one else pays money to that place. It used to be a great place, but not anymore. In fact, outside, someone has torn down one of the 5 stars. Enough said!!!

I booked this hotel after reading OK reviews about the place, compared with other hotels of similar price in Cairo.
It used to be a Sheraton, but it seems the hotel has gone downhill since it was taken over.
The hotel looks great on the surface, and the pool area (which we only used for a couple of hours) was very nice apart from the freezing pool!!
On arrival, we had to call reception for bulbs, as most of them weren't working in the room. We called housekeeping to clean the balcony, as it was full of dust, including the table and chairs.
After walking barefoot on the carpeted room, I was shocked to look at the soles of my feet. They were absolutely BLACK from the filth on the carpet.
As we settled into bed that night, we were horrified as we pulled back the covers from the bed. We found an old, used plaster in the middle of the bed. URGHH, disgusting.
We stayed for 4 nights, and about twice a day, the electric went out, for about half an hour each time.
The hotel is well situated, looks OK on the surface, the breakfast was nice enough, and the central pool area is a real haven from the hustle and bustle of Cairo.
The cleaning staff just need some training.

Really nice place, unlike one of the typical buildings. Its laid out really well with an amazing pool. The food however is pretty average...

“Good Hotel”

We spent two nights in this hotel (one night at the beginning of our week, and the second at the end) during the week of the 19th september 2004.
The hotel in general was good but stepping into it was like stepping into something out of the seventies. the rooms were modern though. The room we were given on the second night there was nicer than the 1st. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and came to our aid right away when we had locked ourselves out of out room..
The street isn t the nicest and its not really that easily accessible to main attractions( apart from the pyramids).
All in all it was a very pleasant stay

This hotel is really beautiful.

We only stayed two nights and to be honest I think we did not take benefit of the hotel. Nevertheless :
- At our arrivial (00H00), I wanted to watch television and unfortunately, the remote control did not work anymore. I called the reception and an "engineer" came to repair it and waited for a "Bacchich ". I'm sure that it has been premeditated!!! I think that for a so called "Sheraton", this kind of behaviour is not acceptable!!!
- A lot of people, at the departure time, were asked to pay some drinks (from their rooms) without any reason.
- We bought a mineral water and this water came from the water network. it should not happen in a so big/famous hotel!!!
