We were booked to stay 1 night at the ISIS, through our tour guide. The hotel was dated and badly needed renovation to bring it upto to the 21st century - an example was the phone in the room was a "dial" phone, not a key touch phone!

The only good thing was the location - it was on the Nile and in the down town area, so easy access to shops and restaurants. However, our room was right at the back so it was noisy, with the road traffic.

Breakfast was reasonable, but nothing to write home about.

Hotel staff were ok and reasonably helpful.

“We enjoyed the Isis”

I am surprised at all of the negative reviews about the Isis. We enjoyed it. We originally booked three nights in Aswan at the Sara Hotel, but after one night, we decided we could not stay at the Sara (for various reasons). Instead, we decided to try the Isis. It was a little more expensive, but they accepted credit cards (a rarity in Egypt!) and they seemed friendly, so we decided to go with it. We were early for check in, but they took our bags and told us where to go to eat or use the Internet or anything we needed. At the designated time, we were able to check in right away. The rooms are not fancy, but there is certainly nothing wrong with them. Our beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets. There was a bath tub, which is also a rarity in Egypt, so we enjoyed that. There is a lot of hustle in the souk, so it was great to come back to the Isis at relax by the Nile after a long day of shopping. The food was okay...not great, but we've had worse. The staff were all quite friendly. Hany, the man at the reception, took care of us the entire time we were there. They only had one night available, but he told us if we needed another, he's personally arrange to find another hotel. We elected to return to Luxor early, so this wasn't needed, but the thought was nice. He also arranged for us to have a driver at a very cheap price. The driver was a good man who didn't try to take us anywhere to buy things (a common practice in Egypt) and didn't ask for anything extra than the price Hany had fixed. While we were much happier to go to Luxor, we enjoyed our time at the Isis and I would recommend it to others.

“Good value for money”

We recently stayed at the hotel for one week. For the money we paid the hotel was very good value. It is very dated, but our room was large and clean with a nice area outside to sit and watch the sunset. All rooms are bungalow style.

The hotel is sited in an ideal position, right on the Nile and in the middle of town.

For us, the downside of the hotel was the restaurant service, which was terrible. The food was good, but we had to wait....

“Isis Hotel - not 4 star”

Pyramisa Isis Corniche Hotel

We stayed at the Isis Hotel in Aswan for only one night.

It is rated as a 4 star because it is right on the Nile, but the bungalow type rooms are 2 star. The rooms were clean but so dated., the bathroom was OK. The pool area was lovely with a terrace overlooking the Nile and the Island across the way. The pool bar was also very good with cold drinks and dips etc on order. We had to leave
early in the morning to catch the plane to Abu Simbel and we were given a breakfast pack from the Hotel to take with us to eat on the way in the van.

There is an Italian restaurant there also that we had lunch in and that was ok also. The small jewellery shop was nice too.

It is in a very good position with banks and exchange places right across the road and is a short walking distance to the Bazaar. It has
a few restaurants along side it on the river. The Mona Lisa and the Aswan Moon where we ate one night.

They could totally refurbish this Hotel and it would be great.
Because we were only there for one night of our tour, it was ok but if you are staying longer, I would definitely stay at a 5 star.

“Broken Aircon”

I stayed there for two nights. The rooms aren't bad, the pool is nice, and the location is good. However, the aircon was broken, and no apology was forthcoming - in high 30s degree heat! They also lied to one of my tour party and said they'd send an engineer to fix it. Two hours later, no engineer. After a further inquiry, they admitted it couldn't be fixed that night. Go elsewhere.
