Abyssinia offers a wide range of Ethiopian cuisine, which I had never tried before so I was keen to try something new and exciting! The setting is very rustic and relaxed - something which I personally enjoy. It's an awesome place to go with a group of friends as it is unpretentious and very chilled. There were 3 of us so we ordered a combo meal - it was the meat meal (can't remember the exact name) and we ordered it with beef. It really was an experience when the waitress arrived with a massive round pancake with an array of interesting toppings on top - there was a chickpea concoction (similar texture to hummus), chicken, beef, mince, lentils and kale - enough to feed an army, especially seeing as though you also get a tray of the pancakes to eat it with. It was really fun using the pancake to eat the meal (as I said, a new experience for me) and it was nice having different toppings so you could get a bit of everything. As one who enjoys spicy food, I really loved the flavours of the toppings. The pancakes were light and fluffy, but I personally found them a bit sour and after a few I resorted to eating straight from the middle without them. The price was very reasonable for the portion of food that was received - we didn't finish our plate but were definitely full and satisfied when we left.
