On our last night in Nairobi (after 2 weeks of hard graft and many restaurant visits) we decided to go with our colleagues to a little restaurant we had happened to drive past during our stay. Although it looked very unassuming from the outside, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival to find a great setting outside in a garden. There were trees and plants everyone, with lanterns hanging from branches - a lovely little escape from the busy city with building happening left, right and centre. Two of us ordered the tuna steak with roasted wedges and grilled veg and I have to say that it was the best tuna I have ever eaten. The smoky flavour was delicious, and the accompaniments were also very good! The others had the stuffed chicken breast (with one thumbs up, and one mixed feelings) and the chicken pot pie which was thoroughly enjoyed. I will definitely be going back on our next trip in Jan! Awesome vibe, delicious food - it's about thyme you try it out!

Excellent service...one of the best I've encountered thus far!
Wonderful ambiance!
I get the quality not quantity vibe... But the latter can go up.

We've visited About Thyme a few times because we like the ambiance, the lush garden setting, and the generally good food. But last time was poor. Although it was a Saturday and not yet closing time, the waiter and staff (stacking chairs around us) seemed keen for us to finish, and let them go home. We were asked if we wanted a dessert even before we'd finished our main course "because the kitchen is closing". One chicken dish was dry and tasteless although the chicken pie was good. Overall, we weren't too impressed!

We are a frequent diners at About Thyme and have never been disappointed. Their food is of excellent standard and each dish is authentic and freshly cooked. They have a good choice for vegetarians and certainly the management and chef know how to get those taste buds flowing. The wines are a bit pricey by the glass and if one is familiar with the local prices of wine on Kenya, their prices are definitely inflated. I would have thought that for the sake of wine lovers, it would have made more sense to keep reasonable prices to encourage more orders...although, perhaps with alchoblow now in place, it justifies why the wine prices are unreaonable! The only draw back I would say is the non smoking area that gets a good amount of second hand smoke from the smokers below, we had to move indoors because of that; the owners should consider abetter suited area for smokers as it seriously is off putting that as it is off putting. The deserts are to die for, as I said, I cannot fault the food and the manageress is an excellent and caring host, kudos to her, her professionalism and her staff! I highly recommend About Thyme and it is advisable to book a table.

I've been coming here for years! The atmosphere is great, and the food is pretty awesome! Service is very personal, and they work hard to make you feel special.
