I have only now been able to think about writing a review about pollmans and their guide as was so angry with our safari tour experience.
On arrival at the airport we come across the pollmans office, they did not seem to know what was going on. We had booked to go to the elephant orphanage that day but the officecould not decide if we were going to the hotel first which was suppose to happen or take us else where. We ended up going to the head quaters and was sat there for two hours. They did provide us with refreshments which helped after a long flight though all i wanted was a shower.
The other problem we had was our second case which we were told to take, that would be taken toour beach hotel in mombassa once we arrived in nairobi. but the people at the office did not know anything about this. so instead we had to try and carry two bags around with us throughout our safari which was not fun.
We were allocated our driver and guide the next day which was the guide with the so called most experience and manager (fammi). The first drive was fine but by the second or third it was hard to get any information about the parks and animals. Even when we saw a lion up a tree we asked was she up there to look for kill our response being 'i dont think so' yet he drove off then every other van followed the lion and she had made a kill.
One time when i asked where abouts round the park would go today meaning to the swap part or trees we were told 'around the park'.
Our so called guid would also be on the walkitalki or on his mobile most of the time and we had to shout for him to stop as he did not see the animals at the side of us. We also ended up with bruises from him just driving off without telling us he was going to do so while we were standing up. There were many of problems like this on our nine day trip.
Everyone else seemed to have a good trip that had different drivers as their driver was also a guide and knew where to find animals and what they were going to do next.
The final straw for us was when he did not tell us about a bush lunch which every other van went to there was a table set for us! first he said he did not know about it then he said well it was rubbish anyway. would have been nice to have been given the option.
We then tried to get another guide for the rest of the safari but pollmans would not send another driver.
The one good thing i can say was that his driving skills were really good and got us from A to B.
Our van was comfortable and was good for viewing all the animals. You will also recive a bottle of water per day from the van.
