The Conrad in Hong Kong provided me with superior service during my week stay in Hong Kong. Conveniently located connected to the Pacific Place mall, it is easily available to shopping, restaurants, a movie theater, bars, a high end grocery store and an MTR subway station. One can even access the MTR subway without ever going outside from walking through the hotel, to the mall to the subway. Bus routes stop right at the mall and taxis are highly available - one can even take the trolley (ding ding) from here.
The room was very nice, offered a pillow menu, nice bath amenities, etc. The room was replenished each day with a plate of fruit and a chest full of truffles, chocolates and tarts. As a added perk, complimentary bottled water was included in the room each day and a Nespresso maker was included in the room allowing one to make espresso (or espresso/coffee) and tea each morning or for an afternoon energizer. I would highly recommend however to venture to the Great Foods Hall (high end grocery store) in the mall for breakfast coffee or bagels pastries etc, for it has a large variety and selection. The grocery store has a coffee bar, cafe, tapas bar, restaurant and overall in very European. Back to the hotel room - it is was very nice, but not as extreme plush as the Mandarin Oriental would be.
Overall a 4/4.5 star room. Rooms are a little older, but still nice. Not the greatest view on Peak Side, Harbor side is a little better.
The staff is what makes the Conrad so great. Overall extremely attentive and great service. The housecleaning even adapts to your schedule and cleans your room for turn down service early when you leave, so as to when you come back from breakfast your room is back to normal.
The concierge is more than helpful to help you find out about great restaurants to visit or attractions to see. If you visit the hotel ask for the concierge Ares Chung. He is a extremely skilled and knowledgeable concierge (or associate executive concierge, I believe), and he very much knows the restaurants, cuisine and places you want to eat in Hong Kong.
Sunday Brunch Buffet is well worth the price and offers both the buffet and a set entree menu item for you to select. The buffet can be bought with our without unlimited champagne, however I would recommend without, (even without, included a delicious sparkling champagne, so no one really knows who is and is not drinking real champagne).
The hotel also offers 4 restaurants.
Nicolini's offering very fine intimate Italian dining with great service. Very much a special occasion dinner or a place to splurge. Conrad also is home to Golden Leaf restaurant which is a great Cantonese restaurant that even offers Chef prepared all you can eat dim sum on Sundays.
Hotel has a nice fitness center, outdoor pool area, with Jacuzzi, pool side bar and restaurant service. Hotel lobby bar offers a great female vocalist and accompaniment entertainment every evening.
Tip: Upgrade to an executive lounge room. You then get access to the Executive Lounge on the 59th floor (exceptional view for the hotel), which includes a great breakfast (salmon, dim sum, fruit etc), high tea, snack throughout the day, and free cocktails, wine etc for 2 hours in the evening. One also gets free access to wifi in the executive lounge which makes it a deal in itself. Service is very nice in the lounge, and is great to lounge in the morning while reading a morning paper. Easy check-in and check-out in the lounge as well.
