This is my 3rd time with Shamrock and as always, they've never let me down.. they have a very fast service although business ctr is only open ofc hours, as expected... if you request for anything, in no less than 2 mins, it's there... their bell attendants are very polite, the front desk staff are accommodating as always, be it staff or officers... and if you roam around the hotel, you will come across staff or employees and they are very courteous and polite to smile or greet you... another thing, they speak good english, you won't have a hard time inquiring, asking nor suggesting and commenting...
The food is great at the 10th floor and seafood resto...
the room we always have is the superior triple room and if you request for same room everytime you think of going to HK, they will gladly offer it to you and if you are a regular visitor, like any other hotels, they can arrange discounts for you...
Although the lobby is quite small to accommodate many visitors, and the luggages, it is however understandable... location is a must and with where this hotel is located, it is so far the best hotel ever built along kowloon... the swarovski lights, decors in the lobby and room are pleasant to the eyes.. although the facade of the building needs a bit of re-painting... their coffee is great, the tea combination of Jasmine and Green Tea is great likewise..., the comfort room, room itself, very clean, They have added few cable channels and my fave is ATV and National Geographic... cozy ambience, quiet and very homey, and safe within the vicinity... shops everywhere, MTR very near.. very accessible to just anywhere...
If and When i plan to visit Hong Kong again, definitely, Shamrock is my choice of hotel... I have never returned to any of the hotel I used to check in before, Shamrock is where I found my home sweet home...
I would like to credit the following staff at Shamrock for the
wonderful assistance... Horatio Yeung, Brendan Kam, Daniel Wong, Andy Ng, Benny Cheng, Arron Wong and Eric Fu
hotel room's pretty clean, can't comment less on that....just that the space is soooooo small..several times i got bumped here and there, so watched out for that especially when you are getting a double bed. my husband is a 6 footer, so imagine how it made him suffer most.. he suggested to change room and upgrade to a larger one, but since we got there only to explore the place what is 3 nights of inconvenience? ( we booked for 4D 3N ) it turned out to be not a very good idea.. so if i were you and felt changing rooms, do it at once for a more comfortable stay..
beware of the restaurant attendants, specially this tall woman that serves breakfast.. yes we know our breakfast was included in the package, but we'd like to eat buffet, so i told her we want buffet, she said "no stay there, no buffet, just set" whaaaaaaaaaaattt??? as if we are not going to pay? what's wrong with this people??
same thing happened on our third day, so i went to the frontdesk and made a complaint... " sorry for that ma'm we'll fix the problem right away, " yeah right ..just hope this thing won't happen again.. it felt humiliating, specially with those people hearing what this woman was saying, you would feel out of place.. good thing we had money to spend for a better service, but this was so unfair... really unfair
If you're a peninsula type of person, then I wouldn't recommend staying in The Samrock. But if you're after a place which is reasonably priced, good enough to serve your needs (you don't stay in hotel all the time after all), and is a stone's throw away from shopping establisments, then you may want to consider staying there. The rooms are considerably clean, although outdated, and the location is comfortably within a busy part of HK. The hotel staff are very friendly and accomodating. If you need to buy basic stuff, there are more than a couple of convenience stores nearby and restaurants all around. The nearest train station is just around the corner (Jordan) so getting to and from your destinations shouldn't be a problem. If you're a coffee addict, the Starbucks across the street should be a plus factor.
Shamrock Hotel is not a sham, that's a fact. 'Stayed here last year with my family for our annual holiday break. It was a pleasant, the food was just fine but what i have noticed is they served the same food for breakfast. Also, not to mention one of our fellowmen got irritated with the server beacause she took away the guest's plate eventhough he is not yet done eating. The room was elegant though old fashioned. The bathroom is clean and without a doubt one of the best place in Hongkong (our hotel bathroom) due to cleanliness. The staff is approachable and helpful and you can even leave your things in the lobby, unharmed from any kind of thief. Do not be deceived or misled to the pictures that you are saw in their website. Seems to be that they have the advance and futuristic design but to see is to believe. From my point view, Shamrock Hotel needs a refurbishment, when we are talking about the interior. The former should be updated in terms of the design, which is by the way an indespensable one for the edifice. Location wise, is very comfortable. Situated just beside the Jordan MTR station, very convenient for the future and existing clients and shoppers. With due respect to the hotel, comfort, no frills, convenience, practical is the best adjective to describe this establishment. I'm giving it a grade of 7 out of 10. And 'really appreciate all the good service of them.
