Much of the museum is underground while there are large open areas outside the museum. The museum was built on top of one of the burial grounds. The museum is laid out such that you walk through the exhibits one area at a time. You start one level below via stairs and then slowly work your way upstairs.
Inside, there are many exhibits and follows the entire Japanese WWII campaign in China. There are many pictures, small videos, and biographies of soldiers on both sides of the war.
At the end of the museum, there are some biographies and interviews of Japanese and Chinese soldiers many years after the war. This was very interested to see and read.
I easily spent three hours here reading many of the literature here and touring every area. Many of the signs and posters were in English. You can easily spend your whole day in here because since its underground, you will not notice the time.
