“Nice room, poor facilities”

Our room are decent although the room we had faces an office tower with curious office workers peeking into our bedrooms!

The gym was pathetic, barely the size of our hotel room. The spa is nice and quiet when we were there during the weekends.

Security is understandably tight. Fantastic buffet breakfast but room service was quite average.

Overall this hotel is nice, and facilities are nice.

This is the site of the bombing a few years ago, and thus they have good security, and rightly so. They seem to have done a good job overall in adjusting.

My only complaint is when that security extends past keeping the guests safe to giving the guards what I can only describe as a fun sport to relieve the boredom.

I had a female friend from work come by to visit me one evening. When she attempted to leave, she was treated as an intruder. As soon as she stepped off the elevator, a man with a radio that is posted at the elevator first floor approached her and asked if she was a guest. She said no, she was visiting a work friend there. They immediately escorted her to a desk, asked the room number she was visiting, and would not let her leave until she was able to finally reach me on mobile phone (because she had not noted my room number), get my room number from me, then the hotel called me to confirm her story.

Needless to say she never returned to see me, and was utterly humiliated.

My question is, what is accomplished by treating a 5'2" female who is very nicely dressed and not at all resembling a problem person the way she was treated. Does the hostile environment created in corraling 100 innocent females worth the potential "reward" of finding one problem visitor leaving unescorted? And why are unescorted Asian girls cornered but not Asian men???

I advise any Asian females to avoid this hotel. If you are a white guy or girl you will get a nice smile, but if an Asian female, you could potentially face humiliation everytime you try to get to or from your room.
