This is the best hotel in Jakarta in terms of service and location. While the Grand Hyatt is more central, the Dharmawangsa is in the quiet south, in an excellent area which is outside the troublesome 3 in 1 traffic routes.

Staff are friendly, and go out of their way to help. The concierge helped one of my friends who was not staying at the hotel to confirm a booking and issue a ticket when all flights were booked solid on a public holiday.

The waiting staff at the lounge are well trained and it is truly service with a smile. Non obtrusive, they know when to leave you alone and talk business with your guests, but are ready at a mere gesture.

Rooms are spacious, with modern asian design features and double basinettes. Etro toiletries.

Hotel grounds are modern Javanese in design.

The breakfast buffet in the restaurant however, is average and not up the standards set by the rest of the hotel. (Just eat out.)

Pricey by Jakarta standards but worth it.

I spent nearly a week in the Dharma, I found it clean with exceptional service and friendliness of staff; they really make you feel welcome. always easy to find a space in one of the many lounges off the lobby to sit quietly and read undisturbed. Great atmosphere and although the Dharma was nearly fully occupied there was no sense of bustle and coming and going of guests, luggage just vanished into the superb rooms, effortlessly on arrival and out to the waiting Taxi on departure - strongly recommended and cannot wait to return

The Dharmawangsa is a botique hotel in a quiet area of South Jakarta. As South Jakarta has very few hotels, this is clearly the best hotel in the southern part of the city, but in my view is the best in the entire city. It adjoins the Bimasena club which offers excellent spa, fitness, tennis and dining facilities and has two excellent restaurants of it's own (although the finer of the two is overpriced.) The butlers are great, and I think the only time I stumped mine was when I asked for 2 large caffe latte at 6:00am. Highly recommended.

The Dharma is an outstanding hotel. Think Four Seasons quality with better service. The staff is there to please, including the personal butler. The rooms are beautifully appointed with excellent linens, fresh flowers, and huge, opulent bathrooms. The grounds are immaculate and the pool special. There is an excellent restaurant on-site. Also, for the security conscious, many foreign diplomats live in the condo building within the hotel compound, so there is great attention to making sure the property is secure. I hated to leave.
