I was quite impressed with this hotel. The service is impeccable, the breakfast is excellent. The rooms are very nice and have high speed internet access at a reasonable cost. Can I say anything negative about this hotel. NO! The staff went out of there way to help me with anything I needed. It is a great hotel if you are alone or with a family, I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I will stay here again.

I'm a regular visitor to Park Lane always staying at the business club floors which I rate as outstanding and outstanding value for money. Some of the rooms are starting to look a little tired around the edges, but the rooms are clean, big and very comfy. Huge bathrooms. Business club lounge a great asset - home from home with a very tasty break-fast and a good selection of drinks and cock-tail snacks in the evening. Complimentary internet access (shared pc) Very friendly and helpful service. Location slightly peripheral, but perhaps less of a target for our fundamentalist friends than some of the glossier hotels.

Bedroom and bathroom sizes are positives
Traffic was a problem
Breakfast variety was reasonable
Had dinner at Stix, the quality of the steak I had did not quite match its reputation
Upon checkout, staff asked if I had consumed any item from the mini-bar, I replied no but added that I had ordered room service and pressing of a shirt.
The staff presented me a bill to sign and as I proceeded to sign, I noticed they added a Mini-bar item amounting to around 35000 rupiah. Upon query, they answered it was Evian mineral water. I had not consumed this item and reiterated I had not consumed from the mini-bar. To their credit, they proceeded to refund me the disputed amount.
They could have done better by enclosing the checkout invoice and the remainder of my 1 million rupiah deposit in an envelope.
Other staff eg doormen were friendly and helpful
All in all, a decent hotel but not a premier choice

I stayed in this hotel from 5th - 16th Sept 2006. Stepping into the tranquility of this marvellous hotel , from the extremely busy Chaotic traffic , was wonderful at the end of long, hard working day.

The executive business rooms are extremely comfortable with large , comfortable bed, seating area with coffee table. Desk , comfortable chair and private FAX machine. Large Bathroom with walk in shower and seperate bath. Discounts on telephone calls, laundry , Free pressing service ( even beat my mothers expertise in this area) free wireless connection in the room and at the pool!
The Executive lounge on the 16th is a comfy haven , relaxing and easy atmosphere. Lights snacks are free in evening as is alcohol and soft drinks. The breakfast here in the morning is also great with good choice. Again , the lovely staff who man this area are top class! Friendly and address you by name -nothing is too much trouble and the smiles are genuine.

As a regulary traveller in the UK and weary from complaining at the lack of customer service , bad food, less than pristine rooms . It was an absolute pleasure to see Customer Service delivered at its best in this hotel. I have only the highest of praise for the delightful staff ( who will also accompany you shopping and show you the best bargains) .

I left the UK with a bad back, and after the long painful journey my back was in bad shape on arrival in Jakarta. After one session with masseusse from the spa I was virtually pain free. I went back for a further 3 sessions during my stay ! Four of the best massages I have experienced. A 60 minute massages costs less that 11.00 pounds sterling.

As for the food , well the Riva restaurant ( its voted as one of the best in Jakarta) should have a Michellin star! Dined here the most as it was my favourite, as was the dover sole! Classy but unpretentious. The Stix steak restaurant was also excellent , I liked the fact you could order any size of steak - depending on your appetite that evening. There is a fantastic big band who play requests and if you love to boogie then its a great atmosphere.

The security in the hotel is excellent and I felt safe moving around the hotel. I would highly recommend to fellow business woman, businessman, families, couples.

    • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — If you want to go shopping - ask at the desk about guides to accompany you. However it safe to go out the larger malls. Only use Bluebird Taxis.

I stayed here on business forf two separate stays during September 2006. There are a large number of quality hotels in Jakarta, so choosing which one to stay at proved quite a task. On advise from some other regular travellers, we booked our rooms directly with the hotel.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, and suggest that you book an Executive Business Room (EBR). part of this package deal gives you free collection and drop off to/from the international airport, discount on laundry and telephone calls. However, the biggest plus is that it gives you unlimited access to the Premier Lounge, located on the 16th floor. You also check-in/out here as well if you book an EBR. The lounge gives you complimentary breakfast each morning (self service), as well a snacks/hot food in the evenings. There are also complimentary drinks available, including a range of beers, wines and spritis, as well as the usual soft drinks, tea and coffee. There is also a TV lounge, and a PC with free internet access (you also get free broadband access in your room as part of the EBR deal). The girls that man this desk are superb - very friendly, remember you by name after a few visits, and make all the difference.

There is a spa downstairs with gym, and and an outdoor swimming pool & jacuzzi. I can highly recommend the neck and shoulder massage as a treat to yourself after a long and tiring journey to get to Jakarta from the UK. This cost only about £5, for about 25 minutes work, and made all the difference.

The TVs in the rooms have about 25 channels, most of which are in English, with a handful of local channels and other foreign languages. I can't sya I spent much time in the room to watch much, but it was very handy to keep up with the world news on CNN and BBC World news etc.

There are three restauarants in the hotel. Stiks is a steakhouse, with a bar. Superb steaks, in a choice of meats, and you choose the size you want to suit your appetite. There's an 11 piece band which plays a selection of cover songs (they do reqeusts) every night from about 9:30pm.

Riva is a quality French restaurant (one of the best in the whole of Jakarta apparently), with a range of fantastic food preapred before your eyes in their open kitchen. The Dover Sole and Wagyu beef rump (au poivre) are highly recommended meals, which were sampled on more than one occasion.

The other restaurant has a wider range of foods to suit all tastes, and also a buffet meal every night. We only ate here once on our first night, and it was good, but not as outstanding as the other two which were truly superb.

In terms of the rooms, the EBR is large, and has it's own business desk, fax machine, and about 3 phones, large marble bathroom, large wardrobe, safe etc. They are starting to replace a lot of the carpets in the hotel (it's been oen for 8 years now), and I think some of the rooms are also being freshened up.

Laundry service was excellent - clothes came back very clean and well pressed. Prices seemed a bit on the high side, but not nearly as high as most other cities in the world.

In all, I would have no hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay in Jakarta.
