I stayed here on business forf two separate stays during September 2006. There are a large number of quality hotels in Jakarta, so choosing which one to stay at proved quite a task. On advise from some other regular travellers, we booked our rooms directly with the hotel.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, and suggest that you book an Executive Business Room (EBR). part of this package deal gives you free collection and drop off to/from the international airport, discount on laundry and telephone calls. However, the biggest plus is that it gives you unlimited access to the Premier Lounge, located on the 16th floor. You also check-in/out here as well if you book an EBR. The lounge gives you complimentary breakfast each morning (self service), as well a snacks/hot food in the evenings. There are also complimentary drinks available, including a range of beers, wines and spritis, as well as the usual soft drinks, tea and coffee. There is also a TV lounge, and a PC with free internet access (you also get free broadband access in your room as part of the EBR deal). The girls that man this desk are superb - very friendly, remember you by name after a few visits, and make all the difference.
There is a spa downstairs with gym, and and an outdoor swimming pool & jacuzzi. I can highly recommend the neck and shoulder massage as a treat to yourself after a long and tiring journey to get to Jakarta from the UK. This cost only about £5, for about 25 minutes work, and made all the difference.
The TVs in the rooms have about 25 channels, most of which are in English, with a handful of local channels and other foreign languages. I can't sya I spent much time in the room to watch much, but it was very handy to keep up with the world news on CNN and BBC World news etc.
There are three restauarants in the hotel. Stiks is a steakhouse, with a bar. Superb steaks, in a choice of meats, and you choose the size you want to suit your appetite. There's an 11 piece band which plays a selection of cover songs (they do reqeusts) every night from about 9:30pm.
Riva is a quality French restaurant (one of the best in the whole of Jakarta apparently), with a range of fantastic food preapred before your eyes in their open kitchen. The Dover Sole and Wagyu beef rump (au poivre) are highly recommended meals, which were sampled on more than one occasion.
The other restaurant has a wider range of foods to suit all tastes, and also a buffet meal every night. We only ate here once on our first night, and it was good, but not as outstanding as the other two which were truly superb.
In terms of the rooms, the EBR is large, and has it's own business desk, fax machine, and about 3 phones, large marble bathroom, large wardrobe, safe etc. They are starting to replace a lot of the carpets in the hotel (it's been oen for 8 years now), and I think some of the rooms are also being freshened up.
Laundry service was excellent - clothes came back very clean and well pressed. Prices seemed a bit on the high side, but not nearly as high as most other cities in the world.
In all, I would have no hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay in Jakarta.
