If what i have experieced is "Hospitality At It's Royal Best", then it's almost an insult to the royalty.
The hotel - has 3 blocks of rooms and 1 block of residence. The older lobby was beautiful with lots of character and adjacent to the pool. However, check in was consolidated at the Lagoon Tower where I was housed - Grand Deluxe room. This Lagoon Tower block is totally uncharacteristic, no charm just like any modern 4 star building.
The Room - there are 15 floors and only 4 floors are non smoking. At check in I was given a smoking room and was told they ran out of non smoking room. On the odd occasion, I would accept a smoking room but this one was really unbearable. Finally a small complaint was made and was given a non smoking room.
Both the bathroom in the smoking and non smoking room were really grubby. The grouting in the shower cubicle and areas of the bathtub are filled with mildew in shades of light brown to black. I thought the Nikko Executive room's bathroom was bad, this is worse.
The towels were musty - the smell you get when clothes were dried in damp condition. The bathroom floor towel was not supplied after my first night.
At check in was told cables were available for internet connection. But only to find none and has to use WIFI for connection. Then upon asking, only complimentary WIFI cards were given. Then the WIFI access was so slow that it took hours to download a few emails.
Then request for late check out, only 1 hour was according.
The coffee house breakfast. The selection is really nothing to shout about - it was just ok. For 3 consecutive morning, coffee or tea was not offered automatically. They show you the table and the end. No asking of coffee or tea. 2nd morning, even after I had finised my breakfast, the coffee was also not offered.
An during weekdays at the lobby lounge, Hi-tea is offered from 4pm to 8pm. If you wish to only have drinks, it's not possible.
It's a pretty dissapointing hotel.
