I stayed at the hotel Mulia for just a few days this past week. I was in Jakarta with a bunch of my colleages. All of us were VERY VERY impressed with the Hotel Mulia Senayan. We were on a trip that took us to Singapore and Bangkok before we made it to Jakarta. We stayed in some very nice hotels but the Mulia was the best hotel by far. As a 5 star resort one expects a certain level of treatment. Mulia meet and exceeded all my expectations. he hotel is only 10 years old and is constantly updating and changing to keep things fresh. The rooms are just stunning you can see the attention to detail in everything they do. We had some down time to just enjoy the hotel and their spa. We did the full body massage on our first day it was only 50.00 US for a hour massage!!! Can you believe it??? I could not and had to go back the next day for another. I heard Mariah Carey and Colin Powell have stayed at this hotel so you know it is great. Security is top notch. For the price this hotel is a well worth. I think if you try it once you will be back for me. Close to Citigroup, ING, and several other investment companies and banks. Closest 5 star hotel to the airport as well. Definately try this hotel out!

“One of the best 5* hotels I have ever stayed at”

Hotel Mulia Senayan

Stayed at Mulia last weekend. Fantastic service, best value for money I ever had at a 5* hotel, paid only $138 and got a free upgrade. Drinks at their club CJ's are expensive though. The interior design of the hotel is really impressive. Could easly spend a weekend in Jakarta without leaving this hotel!

“The Best”

This is hands down the best hotel in Jakarta. The staff, facilities and cleanliness of the hotel are always over the top. I stayed in the hotel for one month in 2006 and 2 months this year and have yet to have any problems. The rooms are very comfortable and the beds are always comfy.

Anyone staying here needs to check out CJ's (the hotel disco). It is very loud and there are a lot of "working" girls in there but you can still have a good time. Make sure you talk to Benny, the manager, when you go.

I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Jakarta. While I haven't compared it to other Jakarta hotels (since it was my first time there), it compares favorably to many other hotels in the same price range in other countries.

I arrived late Saturday night just as a huge wedding reception was letting out, apparently for some local important person. Supposedly there were a couple thousand guests in evening dress milling around in the large glitzy lobby -- felt like Vegas somehow. I think it's a popular site for events like this, which keeps things lively.

The service was great; extremely friendly and helpful. The room was luxurious, huge and comfortable; the bathroom had a large whirlpool tub and separate shower. Complimentary drinking water was provided in the room (a must). I didn't eat dinner in the hotel, but the breakfast was one of the most comprehensive I've ever had, offering everying from dim sum to sushi to fried eggs and french toast.

The Mulia has a great fitness center and nice large outdoor pool (also whirlpool and wading pools) great for lap swimming if it's not too busy.

The hotel makes quite a show of security measures with guards inspecting every car that comes in the gate well away from the entrance; metal detectors on entry, etc. Whether that means the hotel is 100% secure or not I don't know, but I felt safe there.

Three negatives. First, yes, the walls are a bit on the thin side. The first two nights I could pretty much hear everything my, er, overzealous neighbors did. Second, I felt like the bathroom, while nice, could use some updating -- a little fresh grout and some new fixtures might do it. Third, I have to wonder about security when there seemed to be a lot of non-guest females hanging around the lobby and riding up and down the elevators. Other than that, can't complain.
