This is truly a very nice hotel. It is ultramodern, with all the latest conveniences, very large rooms and very nice public areas.

I stayed in room 1603, a large corner room with good views of the Jakarta skyline. The room is large, with a large walk through closet, a large bathroom with separate tub and shower area, a separate desk and sitting area and a very comfortable bed. I had no problems with hallway / exterior noise. You could hear muffled exterior sounds - sirens, calls to prayer, etc, - but it was not loud or obtrusive. The only complaints - and these are minor - is that the bathroom light switches control the closet lights and the bathroom is at the far end of the room, whereas the closet is closer to the bed. Additionally, the ethernet cable is not long enough to allow you to put your laptop on the main desk surface - you have to put it on a lower side credenza, which may be too low for some people. Otherwise, truly excellent.

I had room service three times and every time my order was accurately served, promptly served and was of good quality. The main restaurant is a very large buffet. The evening buffet will satisfy tastes of people from all corners of the world.

Security is very thorough - both on the driveway, at the front door, and apparently at certain times of day, at the elevator bank. The only minor security concern might be the fifth floor outdoor (rooftop) walking track, which does not appear as if it would be really well lit at night (I only used it in the daylight).

Overall, this is one of the best hotels I have ever visited. If you find yourself in Jakarta on business, this hotel is an excellent choice.

“Should review the Spa Policy”

I didn't stay at the hotel, but I went to the Spa 3 times while I was in Jakarta for my 3 months stay. The first two experience were very good. I was put in a couple's room because I went there with my husband. The couple room has a private jacuzzy, swimming pool and shower. The third experience was horrible. Since I went alone this time, I was booked in single room that shares public facilities with the locker room. The locker room is very nice. It has a lounging area, shower stalls, hot and cold jacuzzis, and complete amenities. Unfortunately, the treatment room was so loud with the sound of broken plumbing. Although the staff tried to accomodate me to a different room, but the noise was still present. It wasn't a pleasant and relaxing feeling. After finishing with the treatment, I was going to relax in the public Ladies' locker room. While I was going to the shower (half naked), there were two boys in the age around 4-8 year olds riding mini bikes with their two baby sitters!! They were loud and the nannies kept chasing them down. The mother was oblivious about this. So I complained the the front desk about this. I've paid to get nice relaxing time and treatment, and the management should've reviewed its policy regarding the minor or children (opossite sex) entering the locker faciliy. The manager's comments? "The mothers are usually don't know where to put the children, therefore they need to bring them inside the locker room!" For what I can see is, there were two nannies and a nice garden outside the spa facilities....I was very dissapointed with the non-challant management attitude.

We have attempted to contact Mrs Drury through this medium, but did not hear back, which is why I want to clarify our stance.
The Spa at The Ritz-Carlton cares for all guests wellbeing and should be an oasis of calm, peace and tranquillity.
We do not allow toddlers to play in the corridors. I apologize unreservedly for the particular instance where our standards were not met. The way it was handled by the person at the desk was also not reflective of our usual standards and we have ensured this will not happen in the future.
The room that was defective has been put out of use until the plumbing issue has been resolved in order not to inconvenience any other. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome back Mrs Drury for a complimentary spa treatment of her choice to show her that this incident, although most unfortunate, was exceptional.

The Ritz Carlton Club lounge makes all the difference in my stay. There is free wireless internet access, comfortable seating areas, and food all day long. The buffet, although not elaborate, serves quality food. Travelling alone, I have no intention of eating outside the hotel, and the club lounge gives me no reason to dine in the hotel restaurants as I'd rather have dinner while curling up in a sofa with my laptop beside me. The service in the club lounge is also excellent, thanks to Ms Lim the manager and her team. The same quality of service cannot be said for in-room housekeeping. I can't understand why they don't replace with clean plate / napkin/ cutlery after I have used them, and I don't consistently get all the supplies every day, e.g. tall glass for water, some of the toiletries, but that can be handled by a call to housekeeping.
As one would expect, the size and layout of the room are great. I also hear that guests of Ritz Carlton and dine in Marriott, which is just next door, and charge the bill to the room because they are run by the same company.

I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta for two nights (Oct 23-24). I was throughly impressed with the facilities and the service. I stayed at the concierge level, who remembered my name every time I came back. I found the room to be of superb quality. The breakfast on the top floor was impeccable. I did not have a chance to try any of the restaurants in the hotel though. Would certainly stay again here if I visit again.

“Great business hotel”

Ritz-Carlton Jakarta

4 Oct 2007

I stayed at the Ritz Carlton for 4 nights on a business trip.
For this purpose, the hotel was very good. Excellent facilities, good bars & restaurants, very large, comfortable room with fabulous bathroom and 42" plasma TV, good service and a high level of security (you have no idea how high unless you've been to Jakarta). As with most very large hotels, it had that strange feeling of anonymity but, for a business trip, that's OK.
What I'm looking for on this type of trip is comfort, facilities and reliability when I've just got off a 13 hour flight. The Ritz Carlton had all of those things.
Check-in was a bit vague and slow - not ideal at a 5-star hotel with an important VIP guest in tow, but we got there in the end and it all worked out. Paying for the business centre services (to print out boarding passes) was also a little off at this type of hotel, but still not the end of the world.
The restaurants and bars were good, important in Jakarta when it's not advisable to leave the hotel, and the buffet restaurant was very good. Ice cream teppan-yakki? Yep...
For me, this doesn't match up to true 5-star accomodation in Europe or the US in terms of the little, inconsequential things that make those hotels worth the extra, but for all the things that matter, it was top notch.
When I return to Jakarta, this is where I'll stay.
