Stayed at the GFH for one night before deciding I didn't like it, checked out, and headed off to the Hyatt for the rest of my stay.
That's not to say it's not a perfectly good hotel. It is. Friendly check-in staff, decent food. The rooms feel a little cold and unfriendly due to tiled floors which I felt gave them the feel of a beachfront holiday hotel. What can I say - I just prefer carpet. Other than that, the rooms are well enough kitted out and probably around a 3* standard. Fast, free, internet is a nice touch. If I was just due to stay in Jakarta for one night, this hotel would have been
fine - but as I was going to be around for 3 nights and had a LOT of work to great through, I knew I'd be spending a lot of time in my room and thus wanted somewhere a bit more cosy and comfortable.
In summary, if you want a decent hotel, with plenty of features, that isn't especially cosy or luxurious, but passable, check out the Grand Flora. If you like Western luxury and all of the features of large corporation owned hotel (as I'm afraid I do), then pay the extra and stay at the Hyatt, Marriott, or any of the other top-line hotels Jakarta has to offer.
