Though we are locals, my husband and I celebrated our 7th weddng anniversary here on Dec 1st 2007 weekend. We booked this hotel in Jan 2007 ! Our room is now the 20th floor overseeing the Raffles Hotel across the street. We stay at this hotel on special occasions and I am proud to report that the hotel has done an excellent job with her upkeep.
LOBBY
1. Modern classic with down lighting.
2. Very busy & crowded.
3. Front desk staff is professional but doen't come across as warm.
ROOM
1. Check out our photographs!
2. We loved the brown neutral decor in the room.
3. Bose radio/CD player provides excellent sound system in the room.
4. Flat screen TV offers the widest range of TV channel ever. Local TV channels, CNBC, CNN, BBC, NHK etc. There's even a lounge chair right at the foot of the bed where you can lounge watching TV.
5. A good size writing desk, which comes fully equipped with the widest range of switches, catering to different types of eletricity plugs. There is internet acces (which is chargeable) but hey, we are on our 7th honeymoon!
6. We had wine, fruits & chocolates sent to our room, at the compliments of the hotel (I think it is because of our wedding annivesary). That's a very nice touch.
7. Card Access & curtains are fully automated & controlled by your bedside.
8. Personal safe, terry cloth robe, bedroom slippers, iron, ironing board are all found in the very spacious wardrobe.
BATHROOM
1. Toiletries are from Raffles Amerita Spa (the hotel's signature Spa), and they are gorgeous.
2. Nice long bath. It's a pity that bath salts, and candles are not provided. The setting is close to a private spa.
3. Shower. Taking a lovely rainforest shower is another option. Didn't I say it is close to a private spa ?
4. There is even a laundry wire basket for you to throw your used towels in. Makes you feel at home.
5. Colour of the bathroom is pristine white, and very well-maintained.
6. The only thing I hated is that I could never control the water pressure of the hip-looking glass basin, & water gets splashed all over, the moment I turned on the tap.
LOCATION
The word to describe it is, PERFECT.
1. MRT is located directly underneath this hotel. Business district is one stop away. Orchard Road is a couple of stops away. And Suntec City is within walking distance.
2. You can spend an entire weekend here without feeling bored. There is good shopping with the property & good array of food.
3. My husband & I even took a night stroll to the famous Rochor Beancurt @ Short Street (Selegie).
HOTEL RESTAURANTS
1. Plaza Market Cafe serves a wonderful lunch buffet (international & peranakan). If you have not reserved in advance for the weekend, you can forget ever about getting to eat here. We were on the waiting list but never got our seating.
2. Sze Chuan Court, serves an average standard of Szechuan food, but is nevertheles bustling.
3. Inagiku, the famed Japanese restaurant. They just renovated and I find the decor a tad to dark. The new menu's food is par excellence.
Would we stay here again ? Absolutely ! You should also check out hotel gym & their spa. Go for your spa dip, sauna, & steam room.
