We were booked in for 2 nights en route OZ to UK. We booked a superior room in the main building based on the fact that the hotel was given a 4 star rating and that the descriptions offered on the internet seemed well up to that standard.
Arrived mid evening, hotel was very busy with large number of buses having just arrived with youths apparently checking in. Our first impressions wwere that the premises looked seriously in need of a re vamp and looked more in keeping with being described as a back packers stop over. The first room offered was damp, smelled and had black patches on the walls. We also found the bed sheet to be torn and the lid of the w/c to be broken. The 2nd room offered was marginally better but nothing like the internet description.
Hotel is too far out from the centre, on a difficult section of the road system and as a result taxi drivers were reluctant to make the journey back to the hotel.
Would not wish to stay there again.
Spoilled the end of an excellent holiday.

The are more negatives here than positives.
I stayed 1 night on the Sydney-London stopover.
It was a disappointment after staying in another Copthorne in Singapore. Yes, it is tired, and getting old, and it needs a makeover in most places.
The room was OK, but needs refreshing.
The corridors from reception to my room, out the back, reminded me of an old American motel, not a nice Hotel.

Receptionists themselves were fine, reception can get very busy, depending on flights/time of day. There are good areas to sit around reception. I spent time relaxing by the pool, it was about 2 star standard. Tired, grass needs thickening up, nobody came to take a drink order at all. Not the best place to spend time.

The restaurant was OK, in a 3 star motel kind of way. Adequate, gets food inside you, but again, not the best that Singapore has to offer.
Summary: Find another hotel if possible, otherwise expect mediocrity.

This hotel was booked as part of QANTAS holiday package and whilst it was adequate the property was tired and ageing. We were shifted from our first room after night one as the air con ( which is essential in the tropics) had leaked all over the carpet. The second room had a blood stain on the curtain and the air conditioning struggled to maintain a cool temperature to sleep. The breakfast and the pool and gym were good. Contrary to the QANTAS brochure this hotel is not close to Orchard Road and you pretty much have to catch a cab to anywhere you want to go,so the locationis somewhat inconvenient. We stayed here for three nights and next time in Singapore we will be choosing another hotel.
