My wife and I just returned from a 8 night stay at the GCW. It was our second visit in two years. We got a great rate (courtesy of this forum) from Asiabesthotels(-)

Even though we arrived very late at night/early in the morning, check-in was prompt and the bellman quicly brought up our luggage.

Our 19th floor room was wonderful. A great view of the city. The bed was comfortable. Nice fluffy linens in the bathroom.

The next morning, we asked to have the pillows changed to non-allergic. My wife's allergic to feather pillows. They were promptly changed and they even left us extra pillows.

Breakfast was fantastic. Plenty of fresh choices. It's nice having breakfast with a view of the river through floor-to-ceiling windows. Prompt service.

Overall, a great hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded more touristy areas. I enjoy being away from the crowds. The hotel is across the street from several apartment buildings, so you get to see a lot of local activity.

Great World City, an indoor mall, is a five minute walk from the GCW. Nice shopping, including a grocery store in the lower level. Great for stocking up on munchies for our room.

There's a bus stop next to the hotel. It's a five minute ride to the Outram Park MRT train station. Cab fare to/from the airport as about SIN $14.

As expected a great return visit. Would defintely stay there in the future.

We stopped off a for a couple of nights en route to Perth. Following advice from other tripadvisor users, we went for the Club Deluxe option (a very good deal from Expedia). It was wonderful. Great room, good view, fabulous facilities, REALLY pleasant and helpful staff (a bit like being in a separate, small family-run hotel). Big benefit was an unquestioned early check-in at the dedicated desk; we arrived about 10am and had to wait 20 minutes or so for a room, during which time we were plied with complimentary food and drink (in profuse supply during the entire stay). Location is fine though not superb. We will definitely stay again.

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now and we have found it to be an excellent place in every respect. I am surprised by earlier reviews because we have never had any cause for complaint. My only reservation about the hotel is that it is a little remote from the main centre of the city where all the big shopping centres are (perhaps that's a good thing!). I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and to recommend it to anyone else.

We spent 6 nights at the GCW after enjoying 6 nights in Bali. What a shock to arrive at GCW where there is a total lack of welcome (a theme that continued throughout our stay).
Yes, from the exterior the hotel gives the illusion of grandeur but step inside the lobby and basically you are in the restaurant. There is no seating /comfy lounges for guests or space for people to move about or wait. If you want to get to the 'waterfront' area you have to walk through the restaurant.
We had booked and paid for a particular room-type that was above the basic room yet this is what we were given- small & dingy at back of hotel. (I have since confirmed with my travel agent that I had definetely booked the better room despite check-in saying otherwise).
We enquired twice in regards to a smoking floor & were advised that there weren't any available yet clearly heard the guest checking in next to us being asked wether he would like smoking or non-smoking.
Eventually I was offered a better room & a big thankyou to the staff member who organised it without extra payment. This was the only friendly communication with any staff member.....mind you i was told I had to move my own bags from the first room.
Unfortunately breakfast was not enjoyable- we chose to sit outside and staff outside are extremely unfriendly/unhappy. We learnt quickley to set our own tables/ wipe tables/ get our own coffee etc... In fact we were told that we couldn't sit outside one morning for no reason whatsoever- people were already sitting there & tables were available.
Concierge is a laugh- a small timber desk outside near the driveway- and consistently unfriendly. Even enquiring about the shuttle-bus was a chore.
The pool area is very uninviting- very small for a hotel that size & surrounded by walls- no service here either.
We had a midnight flight back home & when I enquired re possibility of later check-out I was told best they could do was 2pm. Since I had already organised & paid for a 3pm checkout with my travel agent i didn't find this very helpful.I was suprised to read the previous review had no problem with getting a late check-out! I was travelling with my 73yr old mum & explained that even few extra hours would be helpful........not possible.
On the 5th day for no reason that could be explained to me our access cards stopped working resulting in my mum being stuck in a lift on her own for over 10mins pushing the alarm button to no avail & very upset as a result.
Even inquiring re flight confirmation nobody wanted to help- the third person I spoke to finally helped.
The real shame is that the people of Singapore are so friendly & helpful which is in such contrast with the staff at GCW.
Perhaps we had made the wrong choice of selecting a business hotel for a leisure trip but I still feel no excuse for lack of service & unfriendliness.
Its a shame when you look forward to staying at a 4+ star hotel & end up spending as much time as you can away from it......so ofcourse I would never stay here again nor recommend to anyone.
The location isn't very good & Singapore has so many other choices.

Returning to Australia after five weeks in Ireland and Britain my wife and I "stopped over" in Singapore for two nights, staying at the Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.

The standard of accommodation, service, food and location was outstanding in every respect.

We posed two problems: a very early check in (0800) and a very early check out (0620) due to the timing of our flights. The front desk did a fantastic job in satisfying these needs.

We will return to Singapore for a longer stay, lured by the romance of a great tourist destinantion and brilliant all round service.

We will stay at the Copthorne Waterfront again without hesitation.
