I stayed at this hotel in April of last year with a colleague while on business and have to say that I was very impressed with this hotel.

The rooms were excellent, with plenty of space and very nice bathrooms. Amenities in the hotel were plenty, and I made good use of the excellent tennis courts, average gym, and many of the conference facilities. The buffet breakfasts were great and the chicken satay in the lounge was a bit expensive but I'm still convinced it was the best in Singapore!

I found the staff to be helpful and courteous and the doormen were great for providing directions and advice on local restaurants.

As for the location, it may not be as central as some of the hotels in town but cabs are cheap in Singapore and you can be almost anywhere in about ten minutes.

I definitely would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone staying in Singapore looking for good value and a great overall experience.

the first room I was given was not acceptable but without hassle I was given a room that was completely satisfying. The service was great especially the room service. Excellent food at reasonable prices. The entire interior of the building is very tasty and the Singapore river is right in front. I can definitely recommend this hotel!

Loved this hotel from the minute we arrived. Excellent check in and room was very comfortable. We only stayed for two nights on the way back to the UK from Perth. We thought the location was good as it was a 10 minutes walk away from Clarke & Boat Quay. From here you could easily get to the Chinatown area. You could also walk to Raffles. Taxi's are cheap if you don't want to walk. Lovely bar area, although there was no seating area in the lobby, if you were waiting for a tour. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment. Pool and pool bar area good with plenty of sun beds. Very clean throughout the public rooms. There is also a gym, which we didn't use. We stayed at the Orchard Road end on our trip out and preferred this location. Would definitely stay here again.

Staff were pleasant, and the location was OK without being terrific. We enjoyed the setting for breakfast right beside the river, however service was average. We felt that the hotel room was definitely no more at most than three and a half star. It was clean, pleasant but nothing more. It was disappointing to find that there was a long wait to get the free shuttle advertised to go to Orchard road from the hotel and so we took a taxi. The hotel's Italian restaurant was wonderful. Good service and fabulous food! Unfortunately all did not end well, however, as the hotel forgot our wake up call for a very early morning flight to London. If it had not been for a persistent cab driver (I booked the cab myself the previous day) who insisted on reception phoning our room, in all likelihood we would have missed our flight. We probably would not return there, we felt this was realistically a three and a half star.

“Wonderful experience for business or pleasure”

I have just relocated to Singapore for business but had to stay in hotels before landing a condo for the long term. I stayed in hotels because of my frequent travels and this saves my company money by not paying for a serviced apt. Since my company pays, I can stay at pretty any hotel in Singapore including the typical expensive American Hotels I am so familiar with.

I loved the staff here as they were so helpful in everyway. I'm an Asian-American so I appreciated the breakfasts, extravagant and excellent buffet choices and have to say that they made the best egg white omlette I've ever had in all of Asia. (Their porridge was top shelf and merits an entry in Makansutra for best fish porridge) I stayed on the 30th floor and thus had access to the executive lounge with free drinks, wonderful hors d'ouvres with great views of the city. Internet access was very dependable.

I did not use the pool. Access to all parts of the city was easy and my local friends could drive by to pick me up without any hassle. Taxis were also readily available and cheap to get to anywhere noteworthy or otherwise.

Another convenience is the nearby shopping center with great restaurants and shops. A fun plus was to have one of the world's premier nightclubs just down the block. Zouk, Wine Bar, Velvet, and Phuture along with the hotel's own restaurants and bars made for a outstanding stay of 6 nights.

Besides, I'm not in the States anymore and I wanted to reminded of that. Small rooms? Who cares? The bed and bedding are 5 star quality. Great, clean bathrooms and well appointed. I would recommend springing for the top floors with executive lounge. I did not use the pool as I do not like to tan.

What a great deal for the price, coming from a fun loving, business traveller.
