Thanks Martin & Lisette, you welcomed us when we arrived on your door, late at night, and without a booking. You were able to help us out with all our quirks, and even point us in the right direction for partying with the locals. You helped us explore Valparaiso, and put us in touch with Michael the German for a great tour. But above all, you made us, two Finns & an Irishman, feel welcome in your guesthouse. Nothing was too much trouble. If I'm passing that way again, I will definitely be staying with you guys!

We only ever feel compelled to write a review on TripAdvisor when somewhere is truly exceptional and we have found that generally this comes from outstanding service, which is why we are writing about The Yellow House. When we arrived we were met by the owner, Martin and he couldn't have been more helpful. He took the time to explain all of the points of interest in Valparaiso and pointed them all out of the window, which was a great way to orientate ourselves. He gave us loads of great tips about where to eat, boat trips, museums etc and marked them all on a map for us so that we were all ready to go out and explore. Valparaiso is an absolutely amazing city and really something different. The colourful houses provide great photo opportunities and there aren't many places where you can ride in old funiculars to get to the top of steep hills. The Yellow House provided the perfect place to stay in Valparaiso, with absolutely gorgeous views over the port and city. Accommodation-wise, the room was perfect, lovely comfy bed, nice hot shower and great fluffy towels etc. There is a TV room upstairs and a great book swap and free Internet is provided, which we found really useful. We would recommend The Yellow House to anyone for a wonderful stay in Valparaiso - you couldn't wish for nicer hosts than Martin and Lisette and you won't receive a warmer welcome anywhere!
