The City Hotel is new so the rooms are clean and pleasant. I stayed in a small single room which was small but adequate. The bed was comfortable-more like a double than a single-and the small bathroom had a modern shower, hairdryer etc. There was a flat screen TV and a phone in the room. Breakfast was good- buffet syle in a pleasant breakfast room with BBC world service on the large TV. The staff were helpful, friendly and polite. We emailed the owner who agreed to collect us from the airport for 20euro. He was very helpful, pointing out places of interest on the journey. The hotel is located in the diplomatic district just behind the Prime Minister's house, in the same road as several embassies. There are also numerous bars, coffee shops, a cashpoint machine and a small modern supermarket literally a few yards away. This is the "Block" district where there is lots of nightlife. It all felt very safe at any time of day or night- women were out on the streets until late and there was no intimidation. With only 15 rooms, this small and friendly hotel was a perfect place to stay in Tirana.

The City Hotel would be considered a budget hotel in most parts of Europe, but by contemporary Tirana standards it is mid-range. The hotel is newly constructed (quite a contrast with most buildings in Tirana) and is well located within a few minutes walk of the city center attractions. The rooms are simply but comfortably furnished and are scrupulously clean. The breakfast buffet offered hearty continental fare. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel offers airport car service, and the owner himself drove me while providing fascinating information about life in Albania today. There are no great luxuries here, but for a friendly, pleasant, and convenient stay the City Hotel would be just fine!

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

The location is superb; every attraction in the city like Skandenberg square, Taiwan and other entertainment areas are just a few minutes walk away.

The hotel is new; so are the rooms of course. Rooms were very comfortable, spotlessly clean and quite. The room provided all the amnesties that you would expect from at least a 4 star hotel. The only downside about my room was that its huge bathroom didn't have a heating which could be problematic during cold winter days. I was there during December times; it was still manageable though. Still, this matter should be discussed with the staff especially if you are traveling with a baby during colder times.

The breakfast was quite sufficient with good espresso at your will. There is a free wi-fi broadband connection in the lobby area.

What makes this hotel really special is the staff and the owner. They all are very friendly, positive and helpful people. What is more valuable is that the owner has a very honest (repeat very honest), and honorable attitude which was exemplified by his approach to a problem we encountered - something that wasn't related to the hotel itself.

In a nutshell, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a stay in Tirana. Even business travelers who look for cheaper but still manageable alternatives in town should consider this hotel seriously.

I can totally recommend the City Hotel in Tirana - We couldn't have stayed at a nicer place. The rooms are very new and clean; The staff is friendly, exceptionally helpful and speaks English fluently. The hotel is located in a surprisingly quiet district, where we felt very safe. However, it is close to the center of the town, and the main entertainment district with restaurants, bars and clubs is just a 5-minute-walk away.

Shortly: the City Hotel is an excellent place to stay in Tirana, I can fully recommend it.
