I stayed here in July 2007 while attending Spanish school. I got a reduced rate since I stayed for more than a week. As a frequent traveler to Guatemala, and fairly self-sufficient, I needed little help, but what I asked for I received ably and promptly. My room was a bit smaller than I'd anticipated, but the bed was good, the water was hot, and the cable worked.

The place next door does get loud on weekend nights, but other than it wasn't a problem. But that also had to do with the hotel's central location, which is a big attraction. There are quieter places, but you'd either be spending more or be further from the park, or both.

We had a mixed stay at Casa Rustica. There's an incredibly loud disco next door, which played music into the wee hours on weekend nights. We also woke to early morning karaoke ("Little Drummer Boy", ranchera style, this being Christmastime) twice. If you're part of the Antigua party crowd, this may be a bonus, but we were a family doing early morning language study, so. .. not so much. On the positive side: incredibly clean, nice patio on one room (if you're so lucky), the kids kicked a soccer ball on the upper patio and enjoyed the pool table. Location is great -- in the middle of the action, but just know that means lots of party noise. They do lock the front entrance early in the evening, so it feels pretty secure. On the negative: we actually had twelve people sharing one bathroom/shower; we were charged for pool table use and computer use (we couldn't get the wi-fi to work) -- even though those were features advertised as benefits of staying at Casa Rustica. But they also hooked us up with two great drivers, who made our trips in and out of Antigua delightful.

This guest stayed during the holidays, Christmas and New Year's. This is a time of the year when there is more tourist in this tourist town, which means more fiesta's for locals and tourist. This is true for any hotel here or in any touristy city. We do not have 12 people sharing 1 bathroom. We have 3 bathrooms that serve 6 rooms that do not offer the bath inside the room. Then, we offer 8 rooms with private bath inside the room. Our Wi-fi is very reliable and very fast. We have people that use it everyday. Sometimes people do not set up their laptops correctly, but if they ask, we can fix it for them. This guest obviously did not ask. We offer Wi-fi for free, but we charge when people use our internet cafe computers, because it is a different business. Most other hotels, in Antigua, do not offer computers and we are the only that offers a billards table, which are added features of the hotel. Use of the computer or billards are very low at $1/hr. We are a very centrally located, clean and family oriented hotel.

Although the hotel's amenities are very nice, I was most struck by the helpful and knowledgeable owner that was able to recommend trips and sights to see in and around Antigua, and provided discounts to some of the local restaurants. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a a great place to stay for most people travelling to Antigua, Guatemala. It is clean, has friendly staff (Sara is great), has free wi-fi (it did have a few interuptions during my staff). Keep in mind that all the rooms are different in size, decor etc., but they will go over it on the phone when you call (they are honest in description). Not all have private baths. I sampled 3 different room types during my stay there (withTV, with TV and private bath, and without TV and private bath). For the price, it was well worth it.

a great place to stay if you cant speak the language the owner Darrel Hicks is from the United States and will help if you have a problem or want to know the best places to eat because we americans are pretty spoiled. the rooms are nice and clean and the location of the hotel couldnt be better its in the middel of everything. myself and my freinds stumbeled on this hotel while in antigua and we were trying to find somewhere to stay for the night we found out the hard way that if you dont know how to speak the language you are at the mercy of every spanish speaking person you have contact with and you will be ripped off i am not mad about that that is the real world so we were very happy to meet someone who spoke our language and knows how to take care of americans we willgo back every year we can and this is the only place we will ever stay inguatamala they are the difference between a great time south of the border and a dissaster and if you dont believe me go to another hotel and find out like me the hard way
