Arrived back from Croatia a couple of weeks ago and we had no complaints about this Hotel. We were maybe lucky with the time we arrived (13.30) so only had half an hour to wait until we could get in our room and there were only 2 other people checking in so no big queues! We were in the Villa Maria and it was nice and peaceful (until the last night when some English lads decided to roam around the corridors shouting at 4AM..numpties!) Anyway, apart from that, the room we had for 3, was very spacious with twin beds pushed together and a large double sofa bed which we could easily fold back up during the day to give us more space. We didn't have a balcony as such, as we only had a window with shutters, however if you wanted to climb out that there was an actual balcony?? Weird. We overlooked the garden so it was quieter. The food in the Hotel is excellent especially the choice at night and something to suit everyone. We normally sat in the same area, as Markov the waiter was great. All the staff seemed very friendly and helpful and Ana in the bar makes a mean cup of coffee and is very helpful! The Hotel is situated in a great area and it is easy to get the bus into the Old Town which is beautiful if a bit too crowded in July. This is mainly due to so many cruise ships coming in to the port at Gruz and spilling out their passengers who all follow their tour guides around like sheep. You can cut down to Gruz harbour in 10 minutes from the Hotel so makes a nice evening stroll after dinner. The only problem we had was the heat, as when we were there they were having a heatwave with temperatures of 35C to 37C so thank goodness the Hotel rooms are air conditioned. All in all a good trip and I would recommend both the Hotel and the area that it's in, as it is much quieter than the Old Town but still within easy reach. I would return but maybe off season next time. PS The cable car is worth the trip for the views alone!
