Havin read the Trip Advisor reviews, we were not expecting much. However, after a 40min coach trip from the airport, the reception area was bright, open and friendly. The hotel is clean, well run and safe. The rooms are decent and adequate, clean bathroom, plenty of towels, sat TV and beds are fine. Mini bar in in each room is ideal for cooling your water for the pool next day.

Security safe is at reception and free of charge. We found the staff extremely friendly except for the front desk who were a little dull. Breakfast was buffet and offered plenty of choice. We ate in the hotel restaurant twice during our stay and the buffet theme is continued with good variety if nothing fancy.

Hotel is a 10 minute bus ride from the old City where you will have plenty of choice for restuantant and sighseeing. The hotel pool is quite but while longers are free, towels are not provided, so be sure to bring your own.

Overall good hotel if you want to just get away to the sun. However it is not a hotel for spoling yourself. Don't expect spa treatments, trousers presses or tea / coffee facilities in your room. We booked on lastminute.com and travelled with Topflight who were excellent.

We just got back and had an amazing time in Dubrovnik. Hotel was average, good buffet breakfast, clean room and amazing view but nothing special for the rate they are charging. No complaint at all. It is 3 min walk to bus stop that takes you directly to the old town and you can purchase ticket downstairs from hotel. It is 5 min walk to the beach, The umberella and chairs are not free to use but you need them as the beach is rocky. Also there is no towels for the beach and pool use so make sure you bring towels with you to this trip. Your own shampoo and conditioner might also be a good idea to bring as the hotel's is not a good quality at all.

“Pleasant hotel, not bad”

Had serious reservations about this place having read the reviews....but was pleasantly surprised. We spent our first evening in a basement twinroom, instead of the double sea-view room we had booked. However a sea-view room was arranged for our second night-at 60kuna extra per person it really is worth it!! Room was a good size, clean but basic. Mini-bar stocked daily, clean towels daily, cleaning staff however rouse you from sleep by 9:30 or so!!
Breakfast is fine-not exactly a culinary delight but is adequate....never had dinner so can't comment on that....took a taxi into the old town every evening for 10 euro-delightful restaurants to be found....everywhere.
Pool area is very quiet, poolside bar was open but the actual pool bar itself was not. Cobocabana beach is a ten minute walk and is definitely a better option. Bar and reception staff were very friendly and helpful however the staff at breakfast appeared to be serving sentences-being totally unhelpful, unfriendly and unapproachable.
Overall all had a very enjoyable break-this hotel has all the basics and if you're booking a last minute break is definitely worth considering!!

“clean and comfortable”

My room was clean and comfortable with nothing to complain about. The night I stayed, the hotel was dead quiet. Breakfast was fine. The staff were quite helpful when I had any questions or needs. A bus runs directly past the hotel into the old town very frequently, so access to it is quite convenient.

We stayed in Hotel Tirea in May of 2007. We thought Dubrovnik and other parts of Croatia are stunningly beautiful. Hotel Tirena is a touch old fashioned, but they have done a good job restoring it after the War in the 90's. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, we found the food to be ok, not gourmet by any standards, but it wasnt awful, the buffet offers lots of choice both for breakfast and Dinner, we enjoyed it.

The bedrooms, were large and clean, the bathrooms quite large with lovely powerful showers. The Pool is clean, but a bit dull, the furnishings are bit dated. There isnt much to do at night in the Babin Kuk area, so most evenings we took the local bus down to the old town, which is really beautiful. We found Croatia to be clean , safe, and very reasonably priced, we had a wonderful holiday and would most definitely return.
