I am Jordanian, originally from Aleppo, Syria. I fell in love with all the details!

Simply Beautiful. I have always wanted to have lived in a typical Syrian house, with the courtyard in the middle, and a small fountain (bahra) centered in the courtyard, living in the house with all luxuries was just remarkable. I have been there last December, and I am going bacj again this June, I just cant wait!

Located in the heart old down town of Aleppo, were you're neighboring residential houses since 150+ years ago, families are still living there. It’s not a commercial hotel area, even the hotel is the 1st and the only running hotel in the area.

As we learned from the Concierge the hotel never placed a sign that indicates its presence, in a way not to ruin the area and turning it into a touristic destiny.

We were so impressed by attention to details in the hotel, huge bathrooms marble Jacuzzi, under floor heating, skylight in the bathroom, Turkish bath" and on top of that it offers modern hotel facilities "wireless internet. Each room has a different theme "Romanian, Arabian, Greek....

As we learned from the receptionist, the hotel was designed and managed by Swiss people. You can notice the Swiss touch ;)

The staff are proff , multi language, it’s safe, even we kept our room door open during our stay.

Food, mmm enjoy delights of the home cooking of the Aleppo cuisine.

One note, I personally found Aleppo too cold in December, recommend visiting Aleppo in spring+ Best place to exchange money is in the airport.

I heard a lot about this hotel and was afraid that my expectations would ruin my experience.

That was not the case, I felt that I owned a 500 year old luxorious mini palace during my stay. By owned I mean the service was quite personal. You get to pick your food menu, you can get local entertainment, or you can just relax in peace in one of the oldest cities in the world.

  • Liked — the ambiance

Paradise? - some questions remain...

Travellers to Aleppo -
its easy to say nice things about the property (small, paradise-like, nice service-people, etc), but is it really holding up to the high claims by my 5 other commentors before? Initial reaction is that warning bells should ring - as the property was recently sold to a London-based Syrian local! Here is our review:

- The size of the property has required certain restrictions in technology. We had a suite where the AirCon from neighbouring room was much too noisy.
- Local food served is good, better than at Beit Wakil, on level iwth Sissi House, but the price is totally outrageous (like 300% more than at SissiHouse after factoring in all the surcharges)
- Using the Jacuzzi and Sauna/Hamam - pay 20Euro per person plus service (??) plus tax, plus the infamous foreign exchange loss you will realize when you do come from Europe (see below!)

Is this the experience in PARADISE? - Ambiente is only a small part of it; its how you OPERATE Paradise; and as such i can not escape the fact that i felt very much FLEECED ...

comments welcomed.

Ps: the "FX You Lose - Hotel Wins" - Game works like this:
You ask for quote of room (they quote you Euros!)
you pay your bill - you are asked to pay in US$ - Aha - here is the crux - whats the rate?? Well, when we checked out, it was 1.27 $/Euro on the web; the Hotel asked for a whopping 1.50 - an im-moderate 18% more - explanation: last week we charged 1.7!!
Take note - The Four Seasons in Damascus handeld this problem in a very professional way and used daily exchange rates. I left the property thinking that the FX mark-up is nothing different than a hidden trick to make extra money.

  • Liked — the bathrooms are very well done
  • Disliked — fleecing over every service you require...

My husband and I spent two nights in July at the Mansouriyeh Palace. What a place! We celebrated his birthday, having a wonderful meal in the courtyard with friends, all complete with a millefeuille birthday cake.
The bathrooms are amazing and we truly enjoyed the Ottaman Suite, one of the larger rooms in the Mansouriyeh. We liked this room as it was all on one level. We had the chance to visit all the other suites -- truly a lesson in history and civilisation. Some of the suites are spread out over two levels to accommodate the spacious bathrooms; these are also truly wonderful but we preferred not having to walk down to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Definitely worth the trip!

  • Liked — The bathrooms are truly the most luxurious we have ever seen. They even have heated floors!
  • Disliked — Nothing
