I think all the visitors must have this experience first, than visit Dubai. Near the museum in Dubai, can be combined and viewed in the same day. I think the taxi drivers don`t know where is SMCCU but if you say to them that you want to go in Bastaqia (museum quarter) they all know where to go. There ask where is SMCCU is not obvious as it is in one of the houses in the neighborhood, but you will find it. Try to get there with 30 minutes in advance. At SMCCU you can buy diferent packages (they all include a 30-60 minutes talk with a guide about the religion and traditions in dubai). I have buyed the Herritage Tour which is a walk by old quarter (Bastaqia) + mosque and a tea talk which lasts 90 minutes and costs 55 AED/person. You can find lot on informations on their website that you can find in the informations menu on tripadvisor.com (http://www.cultures.ae). Try to book in advance! Attention to the dress code, especially if you visit the mosque, hands and feet covered mostly women and head scarf. After the tours you can visit the quarter as long as you desire.
Believe me, you have many misconceptions about Islam in general, so it would be good to do this tour, which besides will give you more information about the history of Dubai, will offer you lot of informations about their religion and traditions. Here you will find nice people who will not feel offended by any questions asked, so take advantage of this unique opportunity.
