We were so relieved after 2 days in Santiago to arrive at this beautiful paradise. Hotel Oceanic sits right on a cliff, so every room has an ocean view. We stayed in a standard room and would have liked a balcony room so we could sit outside and watch the sunset, but there weren't any available. The room we had was just lovely and the staff was very kind. The restaurant, like most restaurants in Chile, was very expensive, but the food was very good. Breakfast was served to you each morning (included in price) and consisted of fresh scrambled eggs, medialunas, fresh OJ, ham, cheese, and coffee/tea. They have 2 computers with high speed internet in the lobby for your use. The hotel is about 2 miles from the center of Viña del Mar, so bring your walking shoes. It's a little closer to Reñaca, which is another nice town to explore. We went in the middle of summer, but since the temperature drops to about 65 degrees each night we didn'd need A/C. My only complaint about this hotel is that it's right on the main road that hugs the ocean and has a lot of traffic passing through. If you keep the window open at night you hear a lot of cars buzzing by. There are no fans in the room, so it could feel a little stuffy. The gorgeous sunsets directly outside your window are quite amazing. I'd still return in a heartbeat!
