“Don't bother”

Glynn House Inn

Don't bother staying at the Glynn House Inn, unless you like rude inn keepers. The new owners do not like people to question ANYTHING. Their attitude is that you are staying in their house so just: shut up, don't ask for anything, be a nice guest and pay your bill.
These people need to stay at the Govenors House Inn to see how inn keepers are suppose to treat their guests.
Neighborhood is less than what is shown on website, so don't fall for the pictures.
Best advise. Stay at a motel.

“Terrible Experience”

Glynn House Inn

In June 2007 my husband and I were going to spend a week traveling New Hampshire and Maine. Our first stop was in Jackson, NH where we spent a weekend at the Wentworth Inn for a family wedding. A beautiful Inn which we would highly recommend.

Our next stop was to be at the Glynn House. As soon as we started driving down the street that Glynn House is on we felt very uncomfortable. My husband and I did not feel safe at all.

We arrived early and were asked to leave and go have lunch. This gave us some time to drive around a little bit which confirmed our original feelings.

We went back to the Glynn House and told them we were not going to stay but we would pay for one night anyway (we were intending to stay 2 nights). We found out later that the inn keeper seemed to have taped the conversation between herself and my husband.

Glynn house charged our credit card for two nights for the full amount even though they had advertised a summer special and we were to get $50 off.

Our next two stops were great. I had made all of our reservations on line.

Again, I would advise all to stay clear of the Glynn House for your own safety and peace of mind.

The owners were friendly, helpful and full of suggestions for our trip. The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable. High Speed internet was good. Breakfast great. They allowed us to book for only one night which was difficult to find.

honestly, i don't know what the fuss/negative reviews are about. my husband, myself, and our little pooch stayed for 3 nights in the "eisenhower suite" and had a fabulous time. this was in the carriage house, which is a separate house about 20 feet from the main inn. carriage house has about 6 or so suites. room was spotless, great bed with fresh linens and tons of pillows, a very much welcome 2person jacuzzi tub in the corner of the bedroom, gas fireplace, private porch with 2 person swing, separate bathroom with shower, flat screen tv in separate sitting area with dvd player, etc, etc.

innkeepers glenn, ingrid, and pam were very helpful about area activities and quite gracious.

the town of ashland itself is not that spectacular, though the common man restaurant is pretty decent and only a five min. walk. there is also a common man store, which has assorted new england knickknacks. the town is close to both the mountains and the lakes, so a good jumping off point. it was only a 20-30 min. drive to the major hiking trails at franconia notch.

there was a movie cabinet of dvds with surprisingly up to date movies. round the clock cookies available. nightly wine and hors d'ouvres.

i would definitely recommend this inn to anyone. an added plus is that they are dog-friendly.

Being a multiple repeat visitor to the Glynn House we were disappointed to learn of the ownership change 18 months ago. The new owners have no interpersonal skills and stated many times in converstions how 'this has been the worst 18 months of there lives' My wife and I went there for our anniversary and the experience was not at all pleasing. From the air conditioning that shut down in the evening not to come on again until morning(temp of the day ranged from 95-99degrees) to being served breakfast by a barefooted server, we heard only complaining about the previous owner. We as guests do not care what the innkeepers private affairs and bitterness' are, what we do want is only what we pay for, a nice stay. One of the owners, who happened to be the barefooted server, actually yelled at us when we asked about the air conditioning and an item which was removed from our room. At this Inn we incountered the most unprofessional staff we have ever dealt with in all our travels throughout the country. We and the couples we referred to the Inn will never return.
