We had to stay here for Memorial Day weekend since we decided to go to Atlantic City at the last minute and everything else was booked.
Upon arrival, the staff was very very nice and cordial and check-in was a breeze. When we entered the room, it seemed fine, but a bit dated. It was like parts of the room had been recently renovated and other parts of it still needed to be done. Walls were clean, and freshly painted/wallpapered. Carpet seemed okay, but it was dark so I wore slippers. Tiled floor in washing area and bathroom also looked new, but we saw some dead bug bodies(I don't think they were roaches) behind the bathroom door.
Tub looked nasty, with filth set into the pourous surface
The toilet was filled with rusty water, which someone at the front desk told me was a result of them having to use wellwater during recent renovations and this is what had happened. He apologized for the issue and stated that even with proper cleaning, the stain would not come out.
Toilet flushing seemed weak and we didn't want it to malfunction. The seat even looked nasty, so we just tried to use it as little as possible.
TV was okay, microwave and fridge was nice amenities to have. THe ice machine is a nightmare. You hold the button(for nearly two minutes) before ice even starts to come out even though you hear it churning in the machine.
Our room was cleaned well, but miraculously, the toilet was almost clean(Wait, didn't he tell me it couldn't be cleaned? Sounds like a little birdie whispered a message over to houskeeping.) This led me to believe that the housekeeping staff is just lazy since they could have cleaned it before we got in there.
The door had a rusty chain keeping us secured from the walkway(it opens right out into the parking lot, we were on floor 2) so when inconsiderate people come into the parking lot, their car radios blasting at five in the morning, we all hear it and get woken up.
I generally don't like rooms that open up straight to outside. Also, the security door on the ground level leading to the rooms/elevators was kept wide open the whole two days we were there, so I didn't really care for that.
A window-washer would come in handy, as windows to rooms are 'greasy' looking. We never opened our shades because we didn't want people staring in at us as they passed.
We didn't touch the breakfast offerings in the lobby(we had comped buffet meals in various casinos), but people seemed to enjoy it.
The one plus I WILL give this place is that beds were really comfy. Pillows to fat and soft,
Beds are also short(I am 5'10) so I had to sleep with my feet somewhat off the end of the bed. I definitely slept well, and walls were thick enough that we never heard anything from any of the other rooms even though the whole place was booked solid and there were millions of kids/teens/parents/etc.
Bottom line, for the price I think it's too much. The hotel quality wasn't that bad, I think the property just needs some TLC. Next time I'll book early enough to stay at Holiday Inn Express in Egg Harbor(black horse pike). I've stayed twice and LOVE that place.
