2 nights. Pleasant check in with welcome scarf and
refreshments as the check in was completed resort style.
comfortably sitting in the lobby. Open air lobby common
throughout S.E. Asian resorts. Hardwood and small
fountains. Pleasant and relaxing.

Large, spacious room with balcony overlooking the
gardens and pool. Pleasantly appointed. Chair with footstool. Standard sized desk with chair. 1hr free internet in room.
Huge bathroom. Bathtub/shower and single sink with
large counter area.

Only one restaurant on site. Excellent buffet breakfast
with fine variety of western and asian dishes. If large
group in hotel then buffet dinner offered otherwise
a reasonable and fine a la carte menu is offered.

Spa with medium sized menu of services. Low prices compared
with say Thailand and Bali. Good value and services.

Location is between airport and downtown. It is not isolated but
there is not much of interest within walking distance. Requires taxi into town.

Service was fine though not outstanding rather laid back and
friendly. Lack of variety in food and beverage facilities does
reduce its total resort experience. This could be the case
for resorts/hotels in Siem Reap.

Perhaps it is unfair to expect more as Cambodia doesnot have
the deep traffic and investment in infrastructure that the other
South East Asian countries have.

It was pleasant indeed but just makes a 3-4 star property based on its facilities and service.

“Excellent resort hotel to rest after exploring Seam Reap temples”

Angkor Palace Resort and Spa

We stayed two nights at this hotel as part of a tour group. We were forewarned to expect the worst, including the hotels, as Cambodia is still developing its tourist industry in Siem Reap.

When we checked into the hotel, it was like a 4/5 star tropical resort, matching any resort hotel anywhere in the world. In fact, passing other hotels nearby they were all pretty impressive looking, resort like. Our room was huge with mock moquito nets over the bed which gave a nice exotic feel. Our room was on the ground floor with sliding door opening into a tropical garden (with mosquito warning but I guess did not apply in December !)

The breakfast buffet was typical for good Far East hotels with a good combination of western and eastern choices plus plenty of tropical fresh fruits. We also had a dinner buffet on arrival, but that was rather below par, in fact rather poor. Our tour of the Angkor Wat temples was so packed that unfortunately we had little time to explor the facilities of the resort had to offer, but a stroll round the huge pools surrounded by tropical gardens made us wish that we could easily stay another few days.

“We plan on returning next year”

Angkor Palace Resort and Spa

We first visited the Angkor Palace in December 2006, and had such a great time we returned in 2007. Now we're planning for 2008.

We are two 60-something American ladies, and we had just the best time here. The staff cosseted us to death!

Start with the breakfast buffet - complete American plus Asian. Fresh-cooked eggs, build-your-own noodle bowl, and much more.

The in-house restaurant has a Western and Khmer (Cambodian) menu that is to die for.

The pool is spectacular, clean, and safe for kiddies. There's a swim-up bar that is extremely refreshing, plus a complete spa with massage, facials, etc.

Clean, comfortable, amenity-filled rooms in gorgeously landscaped grounds.

We found the staff extremely helpful in planning visits to the temples, a boat ride on Lake Tonle Sap, and SHOPPING! Many of the stores in and around the local market (do visit the food section) are run for the benefit of underprivileged or disabled Cambodians, and the handicrafts they produce (silk especially) are exquisite and reasonably priced.

Highly recommended.

This hotel is not conveniently located. Also, it is hard to get a taxi or tuk tuk if you need to go somewhere. The hotel service is poor.

The hotel uses this inconvenience to their advantage. The hotel will rip you off every chance it gets, especially the tour desk operator. I would not suggest using the tour desk operator for anything. They overcharge for all their services. In addition, if you get a driver, he will not take you where you ask him to and he will take you to overpriced places where he gets a commission.

Also, do not use the complimentary shuttle to downtown Siem Reap. I made this mistake. It never showed up to take me back to the hotel even though I waited for over an hour and called the hotel 3 times. I took a taxi back to the hotel. When I complained to the hotel manager, he did nothing. He blamed me.

The breakfast is not very good. Also, the service is poor. They ask if you want coffee and then fail to bring it to you. Also, I was rudely told that there were no tables at breakfast and I would have to share with strangers. Yet when I looked around the room, there were plenty of open tables.

This hotel also caters to many tour groups which you may not like.

I would not stay here again.

“Beautiful facility and the people are gorgoeus !”

This resort is simply stunning. Only a couple of years old everything is shiney. The rooms are kept spotless with comfortable (but firm) beds. Ensuite bathrooms were supplied with all extras imaginable (shampoo, comb, toothbrushes, sewing kit etc etc etc !)
Our rooms (117 & 119) were fantastic in being so close to the pool, main restuarant and bar. Interconnecting rooms too !

The staff are simply beautiful. they try so hard to make your stay perfect with every attention to your every need. Free internet access was a great hit with our 3 teenagers. The pool and swim up bar is just a must see to appreciate. Seriously, it is just heaven to slip into after a dusty day trekking around the magnificent temples or a cruise along on the Tonle Sap lake.

If you are going to Siem Reap seriously consider this little piece of heaven ! One of the few resorts owned and managed by Cambodians.
