“Terrible - We left after one night!”

This hotel is not very good at all. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights, however we ended up checking ourselves out after 1 night (even though we had to pay the full amount). The hotel stinks of cigarette smoke as soon as you walk in as there is a little casino/bar thing off to the side of reception. The rooms were dirty and in very poor repair, the pool smelled of fuel so you couldn't even go out there. Also, the hotel is right on the main road and our room had windows opening on to the main road. It was very busy all night (as asian countries come alive at night) and we didn't feel safe at all. I think when staying in Cambodia it is important to stay in a 4 star hotel. I would definately recommend the Prince D'Angkor Hotel instead (this is where we ended up staying the other two nights.

“Above average Hotel”

Angkor Star Hotel

10 Feb 2008

We had a wonderful stay and we recommend the Angkor Star Hotel because they have a very good breakfast buffet and a swimming pool on the first level but be aware of the cleanness in the room as it’s not so effective, we had bad luck with the hand / bath towels, a smelly sweaty foot print but you can ask for new towels in the lobby. Be aware for the charge of the mini bar in the room, just go to the supermarket nearby and you can buy a lot cheaper and they have Camb / Thai and western food too! The staff at this hotel is very helpful but they want your $$$ to spend on several attractions in Siem Reap and they are greedy too! We took a bottle of cold water (0.5 liters) from the mini bar and replaced with a non cold bottle of water (0.5 liters) that we bought from the supermarket as it was not cold to drink immediately. They charged us $ 1.50 for the bottle of water we replaced.

This is a great 3 star hotel and great value for money. The rooms are clean and come with ammenities like TV (with loads of channels), hot and cold water, aircon, hairdryer, refrigerator and a safe. Staff are friendly and best of all, it has a pool which is great after a full day at the temples.
Breakfast is acceptable only though. Location is excellent - less than 10 mins wallk to the Old market and Pub street which is the center of nightlife and restaurants.
Family friendly too!
