This hotel's only problem is its location, but when measured against all other hotels in Wuxi, an extra ten minute drive is worth it. I have stayed in 4 or 5 other hotels in Wuxi, but I will never stay in another. This hotel is very classy from the lobby to the room. The service is outstanding. The price is usually very competitive. This is thee spot for Wuxi.

Have been traveling to Wuxi regularly on business and used to stay at the Sheraton (which now became a local hotel run by the owners). the only decent place you could stay before.
I did stay in December for the first time at the Kempinski, a brand new hotel, nice building, state of the art facilities and great, spacious rooms. Can recommend their Exec. Floors.
This hotel is managed by Germans and you can feel it as things not only look good, but they work! Enjoyed their great breakfast buffet and loved the Paulaner Beer house where a german beer master is brewing the beer on site "a must visit place", hearty food, great live band and friendly service. No problem to use English with staff which is not normal in secondary cities!

I have ever been returning there since and enjoy now also there excellent and recently opened "Deli".
Can only recommend this hotel as being the best hotel in town by far and you can avoid the heavy traffic jam of down town, especially when you have to go to the industrial zone.

Watch out for this hotel. I have traveled to 28 of China's 31 provinces/regions/municipalities and I always stay at 5-star hotels, and when they are not available, the best 4-star options. So, although there are some 3rd tier cities I haven't visited, I think I am pretty qualified to judge hotels in China.

When my colleague booked us in the Kempinski Wuxi I expected a nice foreign-managed hotel. I have stayed in the Kempinski in Beijing before and expected the Kemp Wuxi to be of similar quality. Now I don't prefer to stay in the Kempinski when I am in Beijing--there are better hotels for the money they charge, much better--but I have to say that the Kempinski Wuxi is a complete rip-off!

If you like western food for breakfast you will be disappointed. The western breakfast is not awful, but definitely not what one would expect of a 5-star hotel. The bacon was soft and the bread dry.

Worst of all, unlike most 5-star hotels in China, the Wuxi Kempsinski does not succeed in keeping local prostitution rings outside the hotel. Shortly after arrival I received a call asking if I wanted to have sex.

Anyway, I did call the hotels Spa for a massage. After 2 minutes I realized that the masseuse didn't know what she was doing. I like a good massage now and then, but this was not even close to the real thing. I told her to leave but was later presented with a bill of CNY850, which is well over US$100. In fact, the lousy 'massage' cost about the same as an entire night's room charge!

When I complained to the front desk they told me the "Spa" was run by another company, but they recommended me to pay in cash. They said I could not put the 'massage' on my room bill, but they offered to explain to me why I should pay that much for the massage...

Having spent so many years in China I rarely get ripped off. However, thinking that I had checked in to a foreign-managed 5-star hotel, I let my guard down. This was a costly mistake!

I really don't recommend you to stay here.
