Atlantic City has gone through a transition of improvement with many of the Casino Hotels remodeling rooms and improving attractions and restaurants. I selected the Sheraton based on a rate that was over $100 less than the Tropicana. I would have to agree with some of the reviews on this property that is showing some wear and scuffs. My room was very comfortable, furnished with a "Sweet Sleeper" bed, adequate work station, flat screen TV w/ cable. I was disappointed with a couple of items in the room. There was a missing lightbulb, the bathroom light flickered like a strobe light, and the carpet had some stains and burn marks (this was a non smoking room). Also, be prepared to get dinged by extras like internet access and telephone calls. This practice seems to be dated, but not unusual for a location adjacent to a convention center. They should at least offer free internet and telephone calls for Starwood members. Parking is available either as self-park or valet, across the street at the convention center parking garage.

Overall, I would still rather stay here than the Trop for the $$$.

I was prepared to write a glowing review of this hotel, and to say once again that TripAdvisor had come through for me. Unfortunately, I can't say anything positive about my experience there. I booked through Hotwire and stayed one Saturday night. I was just in town for a concert. I didn't want to stay in a casino hotel, nor did I want to stay in one of the shady motels/hotels off the Boardwalk, so I was thrilled to get the Sheraton. It did indeed have a pleasant lobby. Check-in was quick and efficient, and I had no problem with my room, which was on the 4th floor and had two double beds, and which overlooked the outlets. Everything was clean and in working order.

The problem did not arise until I came back around 11:30 p.m. from the show. My card key wouldn't work. I was asked to come back down to the front desk so my card could be reset. But it still didn't work the second time, so they sent security up to open the door for me. When I walked inside, it wasn't my room. This room had only one queen-sized bed and someone else's luggage in it. I was completely baffled, and of course concerned about the whereabouts of my luggage. So I went back down to the front desk. I'm sure the clerk thought I'd been accepting too many free drinks at the slots when I said it wasn't my room, but I hadn't had a drink that night. They checked the computer and verified that I had indeed checked into a room with two beds earlier in the day. One of the clerks, Theresa, said she would go back upstairs with me, as though things were going to mysteriously right themselves in her presence. When she saw that I wasn't lying she took me back downstairs and started calling the engineering dept to find out if they'd have to move beds out of that room. I didn't feel their priorities were in the right place, as I could care less about beds, and wanted to know where my luggage was. I was starting to think it was time to call the police. The other clerk, Emir, took me into the bell hop's closet, to see if someone had moved me out and put my luggage in there, which of course it wasn't. Theresa went back upstairs and met engineering up there, while I waited, fuming, in the lobby. I should add that neither of the clerks seemed particularly interested or concerned about the fact that it was appearing I had been the victim of a theft. Then Theresa called down to the front desk and Emir told me they'd figured out the problem: some wise guy had decided it would be fun to rearrange all the room number signs around, so the room I had entered was truly not my room at all. They only discovered this after Theresa went through the luggage that was in the room I thought was mine & discovered the guest's name. Of course I didn't see the humor in the situation, and I felt that an employee of the hotel should have realized the room numbers were amiss, as I had only walked into the room one time previously.

I asked her what sort of compensation I would be receiving for my inconvenience, as this was 20-30 minutes of wondering what the heck was going on. She said they would give me $50 credit to use anywhere in the hotel. I told her I was checking out early the next morning and would't have time to use anything, and that since I'd prepaid through Hotwire (for $300, not a great bargain) I couldn't be credited by the hotel. She said they would contact Hotwire to see what they could do. I have been waiting patiently now for over two weeks, and of course my credit card has not been credited the $50. I will be contacting the hotel's GM next.

So needless to say, I won't be returning to the Sheraton ever again. Book this property at your own risk, and make sure you know which room is yours when you leave.

I would like to apologize that we did not meet your expectations during your recent visit. In your critique of our hotel, you mentioned that someone was able to remove the room number sign and switch it with the room next door. I would very much like to let you know how sorry we are that this situation occurred during your visit.

We never want to have our guests upset and we understand your concerns and want you to know that this type of prank is so rare. It was difficult for our team to recognize the source of the problem and resulted in some time to get you back into your guest room.

Not withstanding the concerns you had with the time it took for our staff to return you to your guest room, I am pleased that you felt that our hotel was a nice place to stay. We have completed the credit to your account as you requested. Thank you for taking time to comment on your visit and I hope that you will contact me at danny.williams@sheraton.com. if I can be of additional assistance.

I stayed at the hotel during a two-day conference. Check-in was fine. Valet took my car for $17 a day. (Self park was $12.) One nice thing was that there were no slot machines anywhere.

The room was just OK. There was some mold in the shower but not horrible. The bedding had not been converted to the fluffy pillows and linens that most every other hotel now has.

The cleaning staff did not go out its way to smile but was otherwise nice.

I forgot toothpaste and unfortunately had to buy it at the hotel gift shop for $4.99, not a very big tube but unfortunately too big to take in my carry-on so I ended up donating the tube to TSA.

I come from Italy, when I arrive they give us a used rooms, I went to the lobby and I have to tell rudely I want the change otherwise I have to wait the room service ( I was very tired after 9 hours flying and 4 hours driving).
The new room was clean but i pay on saturday 350 dollars for an absolutely not outstanding room.
It' convenient if you have to go to the convention center (across the street) or if you want to go to the outlet shopping (by the way it is not a great outlet center!), it needs 10 minutes walking to go to the boardwalk.
The staff of the hotel is not particulary kind and professional.
I stay here two years and the people who works here are much more serious and efficient.
Otherwise the tun tavern is pleasant place to stay and eat.

I rec'vd a 'Priceline' fee of $200 +fees, for a Sat.night.I 'm sorry I didn't stay at a hotel/motel,on 'White Horse Tpke' (Rt.30), which I usually prefer.I wanted a 'king-size' bed, none were available,so, I did take one, in a 'Handicap' room. That's ok,but the windows facing toward the beach,(East),were filthy( it was like looking through a bottle of milk),also, the 'TV' didn't work properly, and the room, looked rather 'diismal'(mustard brown, colored)! I was only in the room for exactly 8hrs. and 15 min.'s.I did call the front desk about the TV,they said they'd send somebody 'up' to repair it,but when I returned,it was still not repaired.Since,I was only 'in + out' of the room, hence, I really did not have the time, nor the inclination,to talk to the 'Hotel Manager',about the room's condition.Yes,the lobby's 'nice',Miss America',memorabilia, etc.but I thought the room price was to $$$$! Plus, when I rec'vd my 'credit card' statement,I found I had been charged $12 +, for parking, which I was told,by the front desk, beforehand, that "everything was paid for,@ 'Priceline'! I never signed anything @ 'check -in', but this charge 'MYSTERIOUSLY,' appeared on my account.,When I called 'TheSheraton' they stated they wouldn't cancel the parking fee'.When I disputed the 'fee' w/ my 'credit card co.',they cancelled the 'charge'.p.s. It's approx. a one block walk, from the(covered) parking garage,to the front desk! @ 'Priceline',you DO NOT know the name of the 'Hotel/Motel',you are staying at,until you place a 'bid'and accept 'Pricelines' ,'term/conditons'.
