My husband and I booked this hotel after seeing it was number 1 on trip advisor. We stayed for 10 days during the beginning of March.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was immaculately clean, you were forever seeing people cleaning and working. We thought the food was excellent, the only time being slightly disappointed was at breakfast. If you were a bit late down and by late I mean 9.15ish a lot of food had already gone and not been replaced. We thought the outside restaurant at lunch was excellent, brilliant burgers, pizza and pasta. The chinese was excellent too along with the japanese. Well worth a try.
We particularly enjoyed our late afternoon drinks in the Lobby served mainly by Mohammed and another waiter (who I cannot remember his name) They were great staff, who kept us filled with tea in my case and lager in my husbands case, not forgetting the nibbles to go with too. Nothing was too much trouble. I would only recommend plenty of hot water for the tea, us brits like our tea and lots of it! :O)
The pool area was great. The only thing we found was when sitting on a Cabana the drinks service did not seem as regular as when sitting by the pool. We found our drinks waiter seemed to get stuck on the bar which ended up in us having to go up to the bar, no big deal but perhaps more bar staff needed??!! You also did not get the man coming to clean your sunglasses coming round that area either. Apart from these little niggles, it was fantastic and peaceful, the bowls of fruit were a plus also.
As other people have mentioned in previous reviews, when you are by the pool / beach you will get bothered by the sales team selling treatments and trips. We booked some massages and once we had, the staff pretty much left you alone. They did not bother you about the trips either once you had said "no' too.
The actual spa was really nice, very clean and smelt fantastic. I would be careful of the prices. It was EUR45 for a manicure. This is very expensive indeed. We booked up a "package deal" of massages 4 in total for about $200. We had the egyptian massage first which we both really enjoyed. The next ones we booked were aromatherapy massages. We did not enjoy this at all, we were the last clients of the day and it was obvious that the staff wanted to finish, the massages were rushed. There was no such thing as aromatherapy oils used. Neither of us smelt of lovely oils, my therapist was particularly rough and as she had rushed my treatment she actually left me on the couch not doing anything whilst the other therapist massaging my husband caught up. The staff also stayed in the room whilst we got changed which we did not think was really appropriate nor professional. As it was our last day we could not really bothered to complain as to how disappointing this massage was. All in all, I would not bother booking the so called "aromatherapy massage".
Finally, to the Long Bar. Well what can I say. The evening music was not catered for anyone young or anyone that wanted to listen to anything other than Abba. As we appreciate, it is a hotel for people of all ages, the music should reflect this. There should be a mix of young and old to cater for everyone. At one point there was just an Abba CD on for a lot of the night. Also the lounge singer, although he was ok, he just sang the same songs every time he played by the pool or in the bar. Very dull indeed in the end. When we asked the DJ if he could play some more up to date music and did, the older clients seemed to complain which seemed a bit unfair considering we had listened to music of their preference without complaint. I think even poor Rami also wanted to play better music with more variety but was not allowed to. In a 5 star hotel, there should be something for everyone.
This hotel is great for people who want to get away to really do nothing and be waited on hand and foot. Bear in mind, the internet was very poor, we found we could only get it on our phone apps. So download your facebook/twitter and newspaper apps before you go or you will be cut off from the world. If you want to go to Hurghada the buses from the hotel were quite few and far between and took 45 mins to get there. So if you want a night out a taxi may be a better option.
The staff were excellent, they could not do enough for you. They were friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble. They if anything make the holiday. We would come back to the hotel again, it was a good first time experience of Egypt.
