“Luxury and sumptuous comfort at the oberio”

We booked the oberio after a weeks Cruise on the Nile Vision.
On arrival our luggage was whisked away to our rooms and we were refreshed with chilled towels and a welcome drink.
The rooms are spacious and opulent with seperate dressing room, lovely private terrace and sumptious bathroom with sunken bath. Best of all though tea and coffee making facilities are provided I was in heaven.
Sunbathing on the beach was a dream with chilled fruits towels and frappes brought out to refresh you while you laze.
The food was excellent we dinned in the Indian and a la carte every evening. Our favourite pudding was the chilled rice pudding not to be missed. However beware the egyptian Buffet evening I did get a funny tummy from that otherwise no problems. if you do get a tummy upset see reception they have very fast working medication.
Watch out for the wild egyptian fox they roam at night, the secruity guards say they are not dangerous but they can be a little scarey when you first see them.
The snorkling is amazing and equipment is readily available. we charted a boat to ourselves and went fishing and snorkling further out to sea, it was fantastic what an experience WOW

Back at the hotel the Oberio banion tree beauty clinic is top notch and must be tried if you have the time. I can reccomend the pedicure and manicure both excellent even my husband and daughter had one
My only gipe was the beach, the oberio keeps their beach beautiful and clean. The next beach is public and it is a disgrace rubbish everywhere, I wish they would clean it as I am sure it can not be good for the wildlife.
Talking of wildlife after your dinner one evening take the torch out of your room and go for a midnight stroll along the beach edge. You will see an amazing aray of night time beach creatures and it is well worth a look. Have fun we did

This was the best hotel we have ever stayed at by a country mile. There is really nothing we can find fault with. From the moment we arrived we had a painless check in and were taken to our suite by buggy. The suite consisted of a living area with TV and mini bar, a bedroom with another TV, a walk in changing room, bathroom with sunken bath and shower, outside dining area and a courtyard with 2 sunbeds and a parasol. The suite was furnished to the highest standard. The private beach was spotless in fact it was cleaned every morning. At regular intervals the beach barman would bring fresh sliced fruit then cold towels then cold drinks and these were all very welcome. The water was crystal clear and when the tide was in there were an amazing amount of fish beside the jetty.
Food. Breakfast was an extensive choice of food as good as we have ever got. Dinner was a la carte and the menu changed nightly and was excellent, but what we liked most was the service and attention to detail. The staff made you feel like royalty.
The whole week was beyond my expectations and I cannot wait to return. This ia a truly magnificent hotel with staff in all departments to match.

from the moment we arrived we knew this hotel would be special. my husband had enquired prior to the trip about facilities for our 5 year old, and upon arrival the manager cam over and welcomed us by name! he had already sorted out a few things for our son to do which made us feel very comfortable. the staff are very professional, and all speak excellent english. we were also impressed with our suite , large rooms and excellent room staff. room was pristine morning and night! the quality of the food was very impressive as was the selection. the hotel is certainly not the cheapest in hurghada, but you do gt what you pay for. i would say that you pay the same prices as a great meal for two in england. The wine is expensive but the egyptian rose' was really nice and a resaonable price. we also sampled the delights of the banyan tree spa for facials and massages!! these were wonderful and the best treatments and spa staff i have ever experienced. do not miss it!! the staff were great with my little boy but i must admit that the constant attention when we were trying to get him to eat his meal was sometimes tiring! - but hey that was the only thing that was negative about the entire trip. would thoroughly recommend and we are planning to visit again soon.

After a sightseeing tour in Egypt we just spent a short week at Hurghada, which, honestly is not the destination I would visit again. In the middle of nowhere some new hotels at a beach with unspectacular corals.

But: the Oberoi is a real oasis of tasteful design and the best service you can imagine. Not only because they all are very well educated and skilled but all of them are motivated and having fun doing their job. Joking and laughing the whole day you feel like you would spend some days with friends.
The decoration of the whole hotel is extremely tasteful. Good maintained and very clean.

Food is - for Egypt - very good, but not as good as Oberoi in India.

Big minus for the architecture which is not at all thought out.
There is no room with direct seaview. Most of the rooms have a lok at a small hill or just an edgewise look at the sea through very little windows. Even the seaside rooms and the suites have no better view. The "best places" (which could be used for a nice sunset bar etc.) are lost to kilometers of senseless twisting roads allover the areal.

For the hotel I would give 5 points but the location is not worth it.

“Understated elegance”

The Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh

This is a wonderful hotel! Quite simply one of the best I've ever stayed in, combining fantastic rooms (even the basic option is a terrific suite), lovely staff, and overall understated elegance. Most telling are the staff who were universally delightful, attentive, thoughtful and fun too! The food was surprisingly good and varied, and contrary to previous reports the buildings, grounds and pools were scrupulously clean. For the first time in Egypt, one never had to make any allowances for being in Egypt!

Minor niggles - some nights in the restaurant a musician played popular western tunes on panpipes or guitar accompanied by a nasty synthesised pre-recorded backing track (but on other nights the music was traditional or non-existent). And the prevailing on-shore winds blew large numbers of unseasonal jelly-fish close to shore: harmless, but somewhat reducing the pleasure of exploring the spectacular house reef. However, this is not the Oberoi's fault, and most likely a very short term problem.

We will return to this hotel soon, and very much hope it does not become tempted to grow in size - it is perfect as it is!
