Having read the reviews before we went, I knew that they were mixed and that we would have to have an open mind. The slides were great, really enjoyed them. Staff in and around the hotel were really friendly and helpful. The hotel was very poor. The food was especially poor, cleanliness wasnt great. There is a towel service so you dont need to take any towels which were great. When you are sat around one of the many pools so you get really pestered by people wanting you to have a spa, go snorkelling, gpo diving, do trips and join in the activities, they just dont leave you alone which is alright when you first get there but then it really gets on your nerves. You can however get a red flag from the towel station and this is supposed to stop them pestering you but it didnt always work.
The food - I can honestly say that I have never tased food like it and if it wasnt for McDonalds, KFC, Burger King and TGI Fridays just down the road at La Strada (70 egyptian pounds in a taxi, less than a tenner) then we would have starved. There are also bars and restuarants in La Strada, the three crowns the most popular with football, good food and reasonably priced as well. The hotel food was always cold and not much choice for us English. They actually start setting out the evening meal at 5pm and it doesnt get served until 6.30. The glasses were always dirty and the plates werent up to my standard of cleanliness. There are different restaurants in the hotel which you have to book, English, Itialian, Indian, Lebonese and Chinese. The only one worth having was the Italian, the rest was the same food as the buffet restaurant but in a different bit of the hotel.
The rooms - our room was a large family room, which wasnt the cleanest room. The plughole in the shower was that clogged up the water didnt flow away and there was black sludge in the corner of the shower, Urgh. I left a piece of paper under the sink, not right under but where you could see it when you went in on our first day and it was still there when we left. The airconditioning didnt work in our room which I reported twice and nobody came to check it. As its very hot on a night you need the airconditioning so we had to sleep with the window open and so we were always awake at 6ish due to the noise outside. The rooms and the hotel is quite dated and could do with a lick of paint.
Pool area - there are many pools and many slides which were all very good, the kids and adults all enjoyed this aspect of our holiday. The sun beds however were a little dirty and they only seemed to swill around the pool area at the main pool and the slides, so again it was dirty.
I love Sharm and will return again but I will defo not be returning to this hotel and would never go to another sunrise hotel.

All of your comments have been shared with the management team and staff here at the hotel and I wanted to take the time to give you feedback on some of the points you raised in your review.
I apologize that you were not satisfied with the food in the hotel. For the main restaurant we currently operate a 14 day rolling menu for lunch and dinner with the aim to cater for and please a wide range of nationalities, cultures and personal tastes. We would actively request any guest who is not satisfied with the food in any of our outlets to make direct contact with our guest service centre team. The guest service centre are available for all of our guests 13 hours a day 7 days a week and will be able to act as a liaison between guests and our food and beverages team to ensure everybody’s personal needs and tastes can be catered for.
Regards to food hygiene the hotel works to International food hygiene standards set out by an external auditing company and currently scores in the highest possible category that can be awarded by them for food hygiene. To ensure appropriate measures of receiving, storing, processing, cooling, serving, cleaning/disinfection procedures, pest control etc. and water portability that is achieved through these procedures that are documented and verified with various verification methods of auditing and analysis.
I am sorry to hear that you had maintenance and cleaning issues in your room that were not rectified during your stay. We would ask wherever possible that guests report these issues to our guest service centre team who work with a computerized system to ensure any defects are correctly logged, fixed and followed up. Sometimes when verbal requests are made to staff such as room cleaners the information is lost in translation and does not always reach the relevant department to enable the hotel to rectify the issue.
I have forwarded your comments about the sun loungers to our recreation manager who has implemented a rotating cleaning schedule for these to hopefully prevent any further future complaint.
