“Not my cup of tea”

The hotel is one of these huge hotels in Sharm-el-Sheikh where you come to enjoy the sea and the sun.

Room are large and well equipped. Many of them have absolutely no view though.

Quality of service is just average.

We stayed for 2 nights and moved to Le Meridien Dahab, which is much much better !

After reading reviews on Tripadvisor we booked this hotel for our trip with Thomson to Sharm. On arrival, our very large room was not particularly clean but smelt strongly of disinfectant! Pity with the view, our balcony overlooked the inside of dark courtyard and other balconies facing us. A previous reviewer mentioned the Royal Wing, and with this in mind (and being a snob!) we upgraded (£18 per night) to the Royal Wing. Highly recommended, as these chalets are large, newly built properties, away from the main part of the hotel with the use of an extra pool. Much quieter, with no fighting over sun beds (we regularly came out to sunbathe around 10.30am and had no problems). There is a large children's water adventure area in this pool too.

The main pool area at the hotel is large, but a little jaded, and crowded during the day. The beach area isn't really a beach, but a rocky outcrop with tiered beach areas with pontoons that reach out into the reefs. The sea is crystal clear and a multitude of tropical fish can be seen from the pontoon!

Many restaurants, although many seemed to have very similar menus! Can highly recommend the Lebanese restaurant that was excellent! The main all inclusive restaurant has many variety shows each night, super cheesy singer trying to sing in English, not my taste, but seemed to entertain multitudes of Russian holidaymakers!!

Overall, a very relaxing holiday in a decent hotel (with the extra upgrade).

“Paradise”

I believe this hotel is trying a scam against holidaymakers. We had paid to stay in a room overlooking the gardens but were put in a room overlooking some bins and cars. When we complained they claimed there were no rooms left and we would have to come back tomorrow which we did first thing. We were given a room that overlooked the gardens and we had to pay for the privilege. During our stay we met three other couples who had to pay for this 'upgrade' same as us.
However, once we moved our room was excellent and the hotel had everything we wanted. You can go down to the sea and go in off one of the four piers where there is some good snorkelling. The hotel has a large area so there are numerous places to sunbathe with some great isolated quiet spots down by the sea and a lot of places closer to the hotel and pool as it is a long walk from the sea back to the main building. There are some great restaurants and our favourites were the Lebanese and Dolphins although we tried the main buffet one night in Palmiers and that was very poor so I would avoid that and wouldn't advise taking half board here. Food is cheap in Egypt but alcohol is expensive, but in the hotel from 5pm there is one bar every hour that is on happy hour which has all drinks at 50%.
All the staff are extremely polite and it was very relaxing at this hotel, a wonderful break.
If travelling into Na'ama bay I would take the hotel minibus to come back because if you take a taxi that will cause real problems and overcharging.

“A little taste of paradise!”

Jolie Ville Golf & Resort Sharm El-Sheikh

Have just returned from an extremely enjoyable stay at the Jolie Ville. It was our second stay at this hotel after being here for two weeks in August. Temperatures much more comfortable in April though, around 30-32 deg each day!

An extremely friendly hotel whereby the staff cannot do enough to help you. Everyone recognised us from the summer and seemed pleased to see us again which was nice.
I fell ill when I was there and the medical care and assistance I received was amazing. I had fruit platters and get well soon cards sent to the room, telephone calls from Guest Relations checking I was ok and if I needed anything, and some flowers freshly picked from the beautiful hotel gardens by the man who put our towels out every morning!!

Fabulous breakfast with lots of variety as well as a good supply of sunbeds which were available throughout the day.
As we prefer the pool more, we would tend to stay at the pool area and then take a walk down to the sea during the day for a spot of snorkelling. Great area for snorkelling and we actually felt we saw more varieties of fish at our bit of sea than we did on the boat trip to Ras Mohammend (a National Park). Nevertheless, this is a trip well worth doing. We booked this at the the Jolie Ville Excursion desk on the sea front in Naama Bay - only costs £19 for the full day and that includes transfers to the dock area and lunch/refreshments on board. No need to book it through your travel operater. We did this in the summer and they charged us £35 for the same trip!

If you like experiencing different restaurants in the evening I would recommend only going B&B at the hotel. Lots of great restaurants in Naama Bay (Dananner - fish/steak restaurant, Pomidoro's - Italian, Camel Tandoori, Little Buddha - Asian/French, Hyatt Regency Hotel - Sala Thai, fantastic restaurant, get a table on the terrace but you must book and men must wear trousers!)

Hotel is not in the centre of Naama Bay but this is why we like it. You can catch a taxi into Naama Bay from outside the front gates of the hotel. Just hang about until one comes.Never pay more than 30 Egyptian pounds for a taxi - barter hard, they give in pretty easily!!! Getting cabs from town back to the hotel is never a problem as there's always a long queue wanting the fare.

One spot of advice I can give is to take an anti bacterial hand cream out with you and use it every time you shake hands with an Egyptian (they like doing this a lot!!!!) and every time you handle the money (it really is filthy!). This is how most people get stomach bugs out there. If you do happen to get the 'Sharm el Sheikh's', the best remedy is to get to a Pharmacy and explain your problems to them - they have some magic green tablets in a green packet that work instantly, much more effective than if you only take Immodium.

In conclusion, a fabulous hotel with super friendly staff who love to talk to you and can't do enough for you. Am already making plans to go back again, we'd stay at the Jolie Ville everytime!

“swim with the fish”

Jolie Ville Golf & Resort Sharm El-Sheikh

we were a party of 4 adults staying one week in mid March 2008. All agreed it was best hotel we have ever stayed in. We had 'courtyard rooms' -ie facing other rooms with an empty marbled courtyard inbetween. Large rooms, big bathroom, big terrace. Least expensive rooms but no need to pay for dearer ones unless you want to sit on a balcony with a view of pool all day! Don't bother with expensive 'Royal' rooms recently built at front of hotel - immature gardens, and very exposed to wind - and its always windy - with an extra half mile walk to beach. Hotel gardens lovely, exceptional swimming pools, lazy river and water slides. 146 steps across wooden bridges and Treasure Island Pirate type boardwalks to the edge of sea. ok going to beach but remember its 146 steps UP on your return ! Four big wooden pontoons out over the coral to enable you to snorkel and swim with fish. Coral in excellent condition - no crowds or queues on the pontoons. Lifegauards on duty on each one. Plenty sunloungers at pools and on 'beach' areas. Food in all the restaurants was first class. Never ever buy any wine -all a disaster.Staff everywhere excellent. We will return for two weeks next year. Hotel shop poor. Free hotel bus to centre of Naama Bay ( coral there deteriorated alarmingly over last three years.)Short taxi ride - cheap. If you are going to Sharm for one week and don't intend to tour away from there then no need to buy the £10 visa on entry at airport-just ask for 'Sinai Only Visa' this is free.
