Hello,
Myself and partner have just returned from the Iberotel Grand Sharm, Prior to going to this resort I spent the best part of 2 weeks looking for a hotel which had decent reviews on trip advisor, posting questions in the forum hence the reason for booking here.
Heres the review….
Hotel…
First impressions count, a swift check in process in the nice cool air conditioned lobby and the reception staff explained all we needed to know.
Hotel Rooms -
Initially we were allocated room 263 which is part of the “El Diva” club, (Italians club) and was over looking the “diva” pool..
First impressions of the room were A class, with everything you would expect in a quality hotel room.
Room 263 was a “twin” room with 2 king single beds, TV, mini bar, double wardrobes, safe, drawers, dressing table, large bathroom and balcony.
After 2 days we requested to be moved from room 263 due to the animation team been at the swimming pool just outside and the bass from the speakers “rattling” the room in the day time.
I went to reception and advised of this and was moved to room 411 within 30 minutes. Perfect room with large Queen double and large balcony with sea view.
All in all the rooms were perfect..
Food -
The restaurant was nice and always plenty of food, For the first week we were impressed with the selection of food at meal times and had no real issues.. The second week we got a little bored with the similar types of food and ate out a few times in Narma Bay and up at the El Mercado (local outlet village, 5 minute walk)
We had a few issues for a day with the Egypt tummy, but this was due to the outside temperature and the amount of fulid rather than food.
Drink-
Great section of All inclusive cocktails and soft drinks. You can get bottles of water sealed from any bar as part as the all inclusive. The soft drinks were all bottled or cans.. I.e.… bottles of 7up, Pepsi, Fanta or cans of Diet Pepsi, fresh cartoon of juices (juices served by the glass)
Egypt Stella beer on draught or White, Red, Rose wine.
All the drinks were of a decent quality.
Service-
Sammeh Teamah, who is one of the restaurant manager’s made the holiday, one of the best, funniest guys I have met on holiday. He is always up for a friendly laugh while continuing to be professional.
All the staff in the Hotel are a real credit and work so hard and will do anything for you.
Other non UK Guests
In July, The hotel does not officially have any UK tour operators present, they were a few English guests at the hotel, other guests included Russian, Italians, Danish, Polish, French, German. All guests mixed well.
Sunbeds..
The first week we were at the hotel in was only 75% full and there were sunbed around the main pool but you had to be early… the second week the hotel was 95% full and you had to get up early if you wanted a prime spot.. I got up at 6:15am to get the perfect spot but you could hang on till around 7am if you didn’t mind were you sat (I enjoyed getting up early when the sun was rising and it was 35‘c at 6:30am!… loads of sunbeds… if you want to sleep in.. there are loads of sun beds on the beach which are empty..
Taxis
The hotel is only 10 minutes drive from Nama Bay, I would recommend for sure to ONLY use the hotel taxis, it cost £35.00 EP which = around £3.50GBP for a taxi to Nama Bay, tell the drive a time you would like to be picked up and he will pick you up..
A lot of the Blue and White taxis will try and rip you off by charging you double and drive like “nutters”, the hotel taxis are always friendly and drive safer… (we got in a blue and white taxi and saw the life flash before our eyes with his driving… )
Surround Area.
5 minute walk will take you up to the Il Mercato shopping mall, its like an outlet village with some nice shops and a few international fast food takeaways and coffee shops ..Also 5-10 minute wal is 1001 nights.. An open are market, its nice but the locals are just dragging you into the shops and it can feel a bit uneasy sometimes.. Just be careful and just say no thank you.
All in all… A great hotel and service and I will return if I visit the area again…
A big Hello to the staff and a few friends we met, John, Rachel, Larry and partner, Mark and Partner ps Thanks to Larry for getting up and singing on an evening…
I have uploaded some photos so please view and rate my post.. (ps.. please feel free to contact me if you would like to see any more photos or have any questions)
Thanks
Rick & Charlotte.
