Just returned from the Dreams Beach Resort visited 8-14th April. Had a lovely time met some very nice people. The staff at this hotel are very layed back. Most of them are very polite ( usually with an alteria motive). First few days they drive you mad trying to sell you spa treatments, diving, boat trips etc if you not interested don't make eye contact and be firm as they will keep trying. There are several pools at this hotel a very noisy one with the water slides and then a quieter one down on the beach next to the spa. You can also use the facilities of the sister hotel where there is another large pool. You can also have inclusive drinks in there but no food. The evening enertainment seemed to be a lot better in there. Not very good entertainment but you tend to expect this abroad. didn't really see the animation team the whole holiday didn't think they were very enthusiastic at all. All the other hotels we have ever stayed at the animation team have always been very friendly and had a lot of activities going on i the day I never seen anything going on and never really seen the team. Think if you wanted to join in you would of had to go searching for them.
The hotel itself is enormous there are lots of grounds and the beach area is very big so never a problem to find somewhere to relax in the day. But did think the grounds needed a bit of attention there was a lot of rubbish lying around empty glasses and bottles just thrown on the floor and stains all over the floor where food had been dripped or spilt and not cleaned up. only saw a grounds man once the whole week we were there think they need to invest a bit of money in employing more staff to care for the grounds as April not so busy wouldn't like to think what it would be like in the height of the season. The sunbeds on the beach aswell were falling apart.
The food was generally ok not much selection but there was always something to eat aslong as you paced yourself. seemed to be either fish, chicken or pasta every day. the pasta and omlette bar was very popular and had to que for a long time in the morning and evening.
The Crepes bar on the beach is very nice you need to go down towards the jetty. They are very nice there the little fella there has a dry sence of humour but if you chat to him he is very funny.
The holiday coincided with the Egyptian Easter so on thursday the hotel was taken over by 120 Egyptian families. The thing that annoyed me was the fact that the al A carte restaurants were closed when they arrived as they couldn't cope so the staff had to be shipped over to the main restaurant which wasn't fair for us as these restaursnts were very nice. Also the inclusive ice cream was taken off for 2 days and the some of the alcohol ran out.
Mosquitoes seem to be quite bad here I never ever get biten but my husband and I got several bites and so did a lot of the other holiday makers so get some really good repellant. They used to spray every night at about 5 oclock no matter where you were a cloud of white smoke used to be sprayed in the grounds.
The hotel offers a free shuttle bus every night at 9 and 9.30 to Naama Bay it returns at 11.00 and 11.30 you have to book on the morning you want to go at reception. We went twice and didn't really get that much hassle. Think if you say no straight away they leave you alone. we went of an evening when it is really busyso think this is a better time to go as in the say not so many people about so you get a bit more hassle. But well worth a visit lots of shops, bars and nightlife.
Not very expensive to eat and drink aswell. Also the old market is worth a visit for shopping but you have to get a taxi there cost about 250 egyptian pounds. We only took sterling as we always do and never had a problem.
All in all the holiday was lovely but wouldn't go back to this hotel only because been to much nicer in Egypt. The hotel needs a bit of attention and the staff wern't as enthusiastic as we have seen before. The Sunrise island view in Sharks Bay is very nice.
